About Competitive Intelligence
The mission of our Competitive Intelligence team is to define, gather, analyze and distribute market intelligence about competitors to enable market-based assessments of Wayfair’s business performance, guide targeted interventions, and track progress filling competitive gaps. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with our Competitive Intelligence business partners and design engineering platforms to gather and store a vast amount of competitive information at scale. The intelligence you gather will form the foundation of a valuable data system that will drive major business decisions across every major department at the company. What You'll Do
- Lead one or more dev teams of strong, engaged engineers. Manage, mentor and coach team members at multiple career levels
- Partner as a thought leader with your product and business stakeholders to define the vision for your platform and build the roadmap for your team
- Execute and own all aspects of software development for your team – design, development and deployment
- Use depth and breadth of technical expertise to ensure platforms being built are scalable, maintainable and extensible
- Demonstrate strong motivation and drive to improve all aspects of the team and platform - whether it's making process improvements or rearchitecting the platform for the next level of scale and operability
What You'll Need
- B.S. or equivalent experience in computer science/related field
- Experience making architectural and design-related decisions for large scale platforms, understanding the tradeoffs between time-to-market vs. flexibility.
- Experience hiring and mentoring junior and senior engineers across levels
- Experience initiating and driving complex projects to completion with minimal guidance
- Experience building a variety of applications ranging from low latency APIs to large scale batch systems
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders alike
