Wayfair is seeking a Head of Sales Training Content Development with advanced experience in sales training design and leading high performing teams in a fast-paced growth environment to be based virtually or in our Boston, MA office. This position will play an important role designing and overseeing the sales skill, tool and program-level training content development strategy to offer innovative learning experiences for our sales agents and specialized teams selling Wayfair products and services. We are looking for an advanced L&D leader with a growth-mindset, a proven track record of designing effective learning paths, expertise managing complex project plans and an intrinsic drive to professionally develop a team of ~5 content leads. This role will also frequently interact with sales senior leadership and cross-functional partners so exceptional verbal and written communication and collaboration skills are essential. 

 

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Sales Leadership, Program Management Leadership, the Content Development team and others to determine organizational priorities for skills, verticals and tools learning content development connected to Sales growth projections and business objectives. 
  • Define and oversee execution progress for the training content 12 month roadmap which includes sales skill learning paths, vertical certifications and tool/process-based training.
  • Manage team and partner-team capacity through weekly intake triage and sprint planning progress updates to ensure content SLAs are met and deliverable deadlines are on track or reprioritized if needed. 
  • Work with external vendors and a team of direct report content developers to produce learning assets to be executed digitally or via close partnership with the Training Delivery team. Examples of learning assets: Micro Learning assets, traditional SCORM content, assessments, gamified content, certifications, classroom role plays, simulations, hands on learning activities, virtual classrooms, webinars and live simulcasts.
  • Lead an open line of communication with local Leadership & Skills coaches to solicit feedback, experiences, and make adjustments, modifications and enhancements to the curriculum and content.
  • Continuously improve content quality through monthly content team upskilling sessions, 1x1 professional development conversations and quarterly content audits in the CMS and LMS. 

 

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Communications, Instructional Design or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5-10+ years of experience in sales training and/or instructional design
  • Experience leading and developing a team of 5+ employees
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate analytical and Microsoft Excel skills
  • Expertise using the Kirkpatrick model for the evaluation of learning programs
