We are seeking individuals for Wayfair’s Industrial Engineering team in the area of emerging technology, flow management, and technical integration.  The ideal candidate is an energetic team player who understands how to effectively drive results in a fast-paced and rapidly growing company. This candidate must also have an interest in innovating to solve business problems creatively and a willingness to immediately tackle key challenges. A willingness to travel and tackle the unknown is highly desirable.

What You’ll Do

  • Design material handling systems and equipment (conveyors, sortation, robotics) to scale that enable capacity and productivity improvements within the supply chain. 
  • Design the next generation of warehouse automation including ASRS, various storage systems, robotics, machine learning, scanners, unit sortation, conveyance systems, AMRs, and computer vision. 
  • Responsible for developing the roadmap of automation and technology for fulfillment design. 
  • Write and execute specifications and requirements for solution designs 
  • Engage with third party vendors to solution design material handling equipment and layouts
  • Write and submit RFI, RFQ, and RFP’s
  • Write and submit business proposals for material handling and storage systems
  • Space planning and layout design proficiency (AutoCad, SketchUp, FlexSim)
  • Modify and upkeep design layouts (CAD, Sketchup, FlexSim)
  • Provide engineering support for process development and improvement initiatives to reinforce the goal of Operational Excellence
  • Perform ROI, P&L, & operational analysis

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Travel required up to 40%
  • Detail oriented, proactive, with strong analytical and organizational skills, and excellent time management and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to manage third party vendors in the solution design process and proposal deliveries i.e. timeline of project and delivery of proposals.
  • Establish close working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Ability to identify critical paths and execute (these may change weekly)
  • Ability to discuss and show Return on Investment, P&L, and Operational Analytics
  • 3-5+ years of computer aided design and drawing capabilities (CAD, SketchUp, FlexSim), racking design, and process knowledge for distribution or manufacturing is required.
  • Established knowledge of Material Handling Equipment (conveyors, sortation, AS/RS, robotics, PLCs), distribution/conveyor systems is required.
  • 3-5+ years of experience or technical background of Warehouse Management Systems is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Project Management, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, Statistics, Design, Niosh, FMEA. 
  • Knowledge of Labor Management Systems
  • Knowledge of data mining techniques (SQL)
