IT Operations Engineer

Boston, MA with up to 50% travel to other sites

At Wayfair, we are looking to grow our IT Operations team by adding a talented individual who wants broad exposure to the technology that supports the physical locations of our large-scale Internet e-commerce platform. As an IT Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning and execution of the technology required to launch new warehouses, call centers, and offices. This job requires a unique combination of flexibility, creativity, innovation, and effective communication. You will travel extensively (~50%) to locations in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Responsibilities:
Traveling to new warehouse and office locations to assist in the setup and deployment of networking equipment, endpoint devices, and computers
Preparing and deploying desktop computers, VOIP phones and warehouse technologies (such as wired and wireless scan guns, packing stations) and other office equipment
Promoting and maintaining a high quality, professional, service & adoption oriented company image among users
Responding to and resolving Teams ticketed requests
Performing follow up, testing, and troubleshooting of hardware/software
Administering Security Camera management systems
Administering Access Control systems
Network administrative support
Organizing and scheduling upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
Managing relationships with multiple internal and external teams during the on-site implementation
Providing remote support for team members who are traveling

Qualifications:
BA or BS degree from a 4-year college or university is preferred
Three to five years of current IT Support/technician Experience
Ability to rack and stack server and network infrastructure equipment
Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, and switches.
Working knowledge of basic networking topics such as IP and subnet management, DNS, and DHCP
A high degree of technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Strong time management and organizational skills, attention to detail and excellent customer service skills
Active directory experience, including Group Policy Objects and User Profiles
Ability to handle multiple tasks with tight deadlines concurrently and prioritize appropriately.
Ability to lift over 40lbs on occasion
Willingness to work a flexible schedule as business needs dictate

Other traits we look for:
Scripting ability, especially using PowerShell or VBScript a large plus
Working knowledge of networking and network topologies such as: routers, switches, and firewalls.
Technical skills including: Windows OS, SCCM, CUCM, SQL, vSphere
Cloud computing fundamentals (Azure and GCP)
Familiarity with a warehouse environment
Comfortable working as both part of a high-performing team and as an entirely independent performer
Excellent communications skills combined with proven analytical and technical/mechanical skills
Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills
An analytical, creative, and innovative approach to problem-solving
An interest in working hard and being challenged in a fast-paced environment
