The CastleGate Forwarding (CGF) team at Wayfair is building a best in class digital freight forwarding platform. To support this mission, the Operations Control Tower team provides visibility and data-driven insights necessary to monitor and improve operational performance. We are looking for a strong, analytical Manager to build out and lead the metrics & visibility function within the Control Tower team.

What You'll Do

  • Own the direction of our Metrics & Visibility function - Define and build out the central performance metrics and monitoring function, define additional visibility (reporting, dashboard) needs of internal and external stakeholders, and drive these initiatives to completion with support from data analysts, engineering, and your team.
  • Define, Build, and Run central operational performance monitoring  - Define and measure key KPIs; Build the reports, dashboards, establish the review processes and cadence with key stakeholders
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the ISC leadership team - Form and share your perspectives on how we can improve on a wide variety of topics (e.g., operating model, team culture, cross-department collaboration, transparency, analytics). Help us identify blind spots, surface new opportunities, and remain aware of issues affecting team productivity and/or morale. 
  • Interact effectively with internal and external audiences - Hone, articulate, and craft the messaging around the roadmap and outputs. Figure out and refine over time the most effective channels, media, and cadence for each key stakeholder. Produce and coordinate content for senior leadership and department all-hands meetings, creating and shaping strategic communications hands-on. Write weekly forecasting analysis consumed by the whole ISC organization. 
  • Develop junior members of the team - Set the learning agenda for your team, identify what resources we should provide, and help develop content when needed. Look for opportunities to scale learning resources across teams. Leverage the expertise of Wayfair’s Learning & Development department.

What You'll Need

Given the strategic and cross-functional nature of this role, a qualified candidate must have the following:

  • Ownership mindset: Ability to manage a work plan with minimal oversight, engaging leadership when appropriate
  • Experience with advanced data aggregating and forecast modeling, problem solving and communicating recommendations
  • Analytical ability: Experience with analyzing large data sets to deliver clear, actionable insights; advanced use of Excel, familiarity with SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Data Studio, Tableau)
  • Structured problem solving skills: Ability to methodically break complex problems into smaller pieces and design solutions using a data-driven approach
  • Project management skills: Experience managing and executing large projects or process improvement initiatives from start to finish and collaborating successfully with multiple stakeholders across functions to build tools & visibility solutions 
  • Strong communication skills: Ability to clearly structure and articulate complex problems to leadership and wide range of cross-functional stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience

  • MBA or equivalent Master’s degree
  • Professional work experience from consulting, finance, technology, or other fast-paced environments
  • Exposure to retail, supply chain, or logistics
