Manager, Ocean Carrier Procurement, International Supply Chain

The International Supply Chain (ISC) team at Wayfair is building the best-in-class digital freight forwarding platform. The Commercial excellence team within ISC is looking for a leader to manage our Ocean Carrier contracts. This person will play a key role in managing Carrier relationships, including developing Service Levels Agreements, KPIs and QBRs.

As an integral member of this supply chain team, you’ll be able to put your stamp on the design and execution of a very unique and proprietary furniture network as we continue to scale. We are looking for an energetic, collaborative team player, with an entrepreneurial spirit and a background in Supply Chain and Operations Innovation. This is a highly visible and exciting role for the company and one that will offer the right candidate an opportunity to lead part of one of our core supply chain functions.

What You'll Do

  • Be responsible for the overall partner relationship management for all Ocean Carrier Partners
  • Oversee the launch and setup of ocean services on new origins like Brazil, Italy & Israel. Partner with internal teams to define the SOP, cadence of reporting and updates.
  • Lead strategic initiatives for optimizing Carrier sourcing and performance.
  • Lead the transition to new Carriers as part of the procurement process.
  • Coordinate with operations to ensure seamless and cost-optimal outcomes in the supply chain.
  • Identify and develop the right business tools with internal stakeholders (with engineering, operations and business development) to support scale up
  • Support in select strategic activities such as identifying & signing on new business partners, pricing strategies, and market research (not exhaustive)
  • Build and scale business processes for new products/business opportunities


What You'll Need

  • Track record of success leading a team performing ocean procurement processes.
  • Experience in an ocean freight forwarding environment preferred.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast moving environment with a certain level of ambiguity.
  • Strong analytical experience and comfort working with large data sets to identify trends and actionable takeaways.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment and managing cross-functional projects required.
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives by successfully collaborating with multiple stakeholders and building tools & visibility solutions
  • Experience in negotiations/sales processes with external suppliers/vendors is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – confident, assertive and ability to influence agent partners
  • Ability to work effectively with people in a cross-functional environment
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work well in a fast paced, data driven company
  • Willingness to travel to meet for working with international colleagues of ISC. <10%
  • Bachelor's degree in Business. Focus on Supply Chain is preferred
  • Experience working with various level in an organization from the C-Suite to the transactional level
