The Manager, Yard Operations - Continuous Improvement and Field Operations drives meaningful outcomes and KPIs for all of Wayfair’s Yard NA operations. As a leader in the Network Management organization, the role is responsible for driving better outcomes through developing and implementing continuous improvement across a global Network. Working together with the Sr. Manager of Yard Operations, the role will build and develop projects and processes needed to operate and grow Wayfair’s exponentially growing footprint across the continent.  This is a unique role in Wayfair that operates at the intersection of Business strategy, Physical Operations, and Network Scalability. 

 

Wayfair is looking for an operations centric leader who is data driven with proven experience driving organizational change, and championing innovative thinking to help scale Wayfair’s Yard function to more than double over the next five years.

 

A successful Manager of Yard (Data) Operations:

  • Drive improvements in KPIs such as labor and capacity utilization, through the development of processes and continuous improvement
  • Build meaningful relationships with key stakeholders in the field in order to understand the true impact of operational changes to ongoing operations
  • Develop on site support for various key stakeholders across North America 
  • Develop critical inputs and processes for our Yard Management System (YMS)
  • Develop the infrastructure for continuous improvement and testing with help from engineering, operation research and data science teams
  • Support a number of dotted line managers in the field, building the team’s acumen in Continuous improvement, Six sigma, Poka Yoke and other traditional Supply Chain systems/concepts

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or a Supply Chain/Operations discipline
  • MBA, Supply Chain or equivalent Master’s degree preferred
  • 4+ years of experience in supply chain, operations, continuous improvement, or ops. strategy, preferably with diverse experience
  • Requires 50% travel to our Field locations
  • Six Sigma Blackbelt a plus
  • Proven track record of leadership, taking ownership and driving results
  • Experience managing and executing large projects from start to finish including project management, Kaizen events, or value stream mapping
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Senior presence; able to clearly and consistently partner with a broad range of levels and functions to achieve objectives
  • Proficiency with any query based language (SQL, Python) ideal and ability to analyze large data sets to deliver clear, actionable insights
  • Experience having direct reports a plus
