With a wide variety of furniture and home décor products, we drive a series of strategic supply chain initiatives that enables us to improve product quality either at source or directly in our supply chain. Product Quality management is an integral part across our business and with external supplier partners to ensure a superb customer experience.

We are looking for the right candidate with experience and knowledge in the field of product quality, manufacturing processes, quality control and supply chain to drive improvements both at production sources and at Wayfair fulfilment centres to reduce quality related incidents. With a mix of data deep dive analysis and having insight into unique on the ground operations, this candidate must be able to thrive in an extremely fast-paced environment that continues to evolve rapidly. This is a highly visible and exciting role for the company and one that will offer the right candidate an opportunity to shape one of our core functions in supply chain and logistics.

 

What You'll Do

  • As EU Quality Control (QC) Business Process Owner, lead and support QC at Wayfair Fulfilment Centres (FC) to ensure process effectiveness and efficiency, have regular touch base meetings with QC supervisors across Wayfair Europe to assign operational tasks for inspections and report about QC operations at EU level
  • Define and measure quality control goals in alignment with the overall Incident Prevention KPIs
  • Being an escalation point for QC supervisors for operational topics such as inbound diversion compliance, QC area lay-out and tools/equipment in use and technical questions related to QC inspection criteria.
  • Responsible to define criteria to flag products in the QC scope and monitor the results to alter the scope as necessary
  • Collaborate with tech teams to develop tools and software solutions for QC supports such as QC dashboard, sampling plan and acceptable quality level (AQL) deployments in Wayfair FC systems
  • Provide ongoing support for EU Supplier Partner Operations Team to perform deep dive QC data analysis, communicate results to suppliers and leverage product performance improvement programs as necessary
  • Align with US counterparts regarding concept related topics such as QC checklist criteria, scope sampling methods and AQL
  • Collaborate with Rapid Incidence Containment and Inventory Planning Team to communicate repeated batch failures with the suppliers, stop replenishment of products, engage suppliers in improvement opportunities and verify the outcomes before resuming replenishment.
  • Verify suppliers’ actions to resume replenishment of the egregious products at Wayfair FCs
  • Support the Product Quality Team as necessary in performing detailed data analysis for supplier engagements regarding improvement programs at source.
  • Create standard operating procedures, job instructions and all necessary process related documentations, with the support of QC supervisors, in order to describe the QC process in details
  • Travel to the Wayfair FCs located in Lich-DE and Mallow-UK to support QC operations on-site requirement: Ca.20% (post Covid)

 

What You'll Need

  • Relevant BA in engineering, operations or supply chain
  • 3+ years of experience in fast-moving, dynamic work environments, demonstrating both excellent technical, business and operational know-how
  • Excellent data analysis and reporting skills
  • Experience using google sheets as well as MS office products
  • Subject matter expert in product quality, experienced in process improvement techniques in a production and warehouse environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate across all levels of the organization (English) and work effectively with people in a cross-functional environment and using remote and virtual meeting tools
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of furniture manufacturing processes and furniture related product quality is a plus
  • Extended retail or furniture industry knowledge is a plus
