Position: Routing Specialist

Shift: 1st shift 7:30am-3:30pm 

Location: West or Southwest HDO location

Do you have the business savvy and problem-solving skills necessary to drive continuous improvement at scale? Are you looking to hit the ground running and have an immediate impact in a highly visible role? If so, you are a great fit for the Last Mile Routing Operations team.

Home Delivery Operations is looking to add a Last Mile Routing Specialist to our team. This person will play a key role in planning routes that deliver perfect, cost effective orders at scale for one or more of Wayfair’s last mile depots. 

What you will do:

  • Execute daily outbound resource plans to achieve customer experience, speed, and cost goals
  • Use data to drive continuous improvement in core business outcomes: Planned Stops per Route, Transportation Efficiency (Utilization), Scheduled Dwell, In-Window %, Routes > 11 Hrs, and Route Review Timing. 
  • Proactively monitor upcoming routes, identifying efficiency opportunities, correcting input defects, and resolving potential violations of customer experience and operational feasibility
  • Publish routes to local depot within agreed upon SLA
  • Partner with local depot and centralized network planning teams to meet throughput requirements of building
  • Facilitate local site feedback to identify trends, change settings, or proactively address local situation (e.g. bridge closure, weather event, carrier training)
  • Be a subject matter expert in Routing software (Descartes) to reduce defects and time-spent routing while achieving business objectives
  • Provide direct input to Routing + Scheduling technology teams about existing tools and make recommendations for process changes/improvements

  • Prioritizes tasks, swiftly identifies tasks requiring additional support from manager, and proactively provides updates to manager
  • Able to effectively carry on with tasks, using guidance from standardized documentation or manager, in a reasonable timeframe when deviations occur from the norm for tasks
  • Supports port mortem learning opportunities with the broader team and stakeholders, as needed
  • Utilizes all tools and scripts available to analyze data from various sources 
  • Sanity checks data by proactively asking questions and verifying assumptions
  • Comfortably presents & converses with functional team
  • Utilizes data when providing written updates to peer stakeholder groups, clearly describing key takeaways and findings 
  • Creates artifacts/ trackers that are easy to follow & can be shared with broader stakeholder groups
  • Documents process flows and SOPs for processes, as needed
