Senior Analyst, Competitive Intelligence

Competitive Intelligence focuses on understanding, measuring, and optimizing Wayfair’s strategic positioning within the rapidly evolving competitive e-commerce landscape. This cross-functional team uses advanced analytics capabilities to identify market-based insights that impact every major business function at the company.

 

What You'll Do

  • Develop, test, and scale innovative approaches or products to tackle new business questions or to understand new parts of the competitive landscape
  • Bring a critical eye to our existing processes, products, data, and approaches to identify and improve on areas to improve the efficacy or efficiency of our systems
  • Ensure that our competitive intelligence machine is working as intended, quickly identifying when it is not, and working cross-functionally to fix the issue
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to prioritize projects that ensure that Wayfair has visibility into market dynamics and to create a competitive dataset to bring external dynamics into our internal decisions
  • Leverage tools like SQL, Google BigQuery and Python to harness big data sets in order to answer strategic business questions and identify opportunities to drive improvement in our processes and products
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure we have the right visibility and data to answer competitor questions central to their strategy
  • Develop data sets and KPIs that allow us to track progress and effectively respond when we do not see the results we expect

What You'll Need

  • Degree from a Bachelor’s degree program with a distinguished academic record, ideally in a quantitative field (math, economics, statistics, physics, engineering, management information systems, etc.)
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong quantitative skills; Experience developing analytical methodologies and assumptions and ability to use data software to conduct the analyses and synthesize findings
  • A process-oriented mindset with strong organizational and communication skills
  • Intellectual curiosity, high energy, and strong work ethic; passion for working with, normalizing, and synthesizing large amounts of data into actionable insights
  • Ability to identify and succinctly summarize roadblocks and constraints, propose potential solutions, and drive towards resolution
  • Attention to detail with strong quality control
  • SQL and/or Python familiarity is a plus, including motivation to learn and develop the skill-set
