About the Gross Margin Team: The Gross Margin team (within Strategic Corporate Finance) is the one-stop-shop for everything related to Wayfair’s gross margin. The team has an expert understanding of the nuanced drivers of Wayfair’s gross margin and focuses on developing gross margin reporting, driving cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving gross margin visibility and accuracy, executing on initiatives aimed at gross margin expansion, and forecasting gross margin at a detailed level.
The Gross Margin team is looking for an analytical and motivated Analyst to help with our financial close process, reporting and monitoring. The Analyst will collaborate with various cross-functional partners in Accounting, Financial Operations, Engineering, and Inventory Control to drive automation for our manual month end processes, monitor margin to spot trends or bad data and help to move forward our strategic projects.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Become an expert of the gross margin data and algorithms at Wayfair
  • Run manual month end processes to ensure our monthly figures are accurate and complete 
  • Collaborate closely with Accounting at month end to vet accounting report, provide insight into figures and compile necessary accruals 
  • Collaborate with engineering and product management to implement automation into our manual processes and drive forward data fixes 
  • Monitor gross margin on a regular basis to ensure it is in line with forecast and past trends 
  • Clearly interpret and communicate analytics work to stakeholders; leverage analytical findings to identify actionable business recommendations 
  • Develop reporting metrics and present data with a clear point of view so that insights can be used to help drive financial and operational strategy 
  • Streamline processes and help build out reporting infrastructure and tools 

The right candidate has:

  • 1+ year of experience in an analytical role 
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills that put you at ease with financial data and accounting concepts 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively convey insights from analyses to senior leaders 
  • Experience working within large datasets and resourcefulness in obtaining data when clean and/or complete information is not available 
  • Excellent organization skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and multitask 
  • Results driven and able to perform well in a fast-moving environment and against tight deadlines 
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required 
  • SQL skills are a plus
