Partner Home is Wayfair’s supplier facing platform that enables our 15,000+ supplier-partners to manage and grow their business through Wayfair. We have 50+ teams in Boston and Berlin building applications and user journeys that contribute towards this mission. The Supplier Operations Warehouse team is one of those teams. Based in Berlin, we work with suppliers to provide cost-efficient, perfect orders at scale to Wayfair’s consumers. The team provides a holistic view on supplier’s inventory availability across their network in real time, clear guidance on necessary actions, and even recommendations to  enable suppliers to capitalize on customer demand to increase their revenues. Our tech stack revolves around Java and Spring Boot in the backend and React.js in the frontend. In our team you’d also be able to work with Docker and Kubernetes, with a mix of REST and Kafka for communication, and leverage cloud computing (Google Cloud Platform). 

As a Senior Engineer you will be responsible for the technical leadership of our tools and services and their interaction with our international supply chain. Your work will impact thousands of suppliers, and in turn, millions of customers. As a result, you will have a tremendous opportunity to impact the growth and development of Wayfair’s business.

What you’ll do:

• Architect and write code to implement high-quality, scalable services with effective system boundaries that will support our long term vision & strategy
• Lead your teammates by example, as an senior member of the team you will let your code and system designs demonstrate the path the team should follow
• Use your deep understanding of Wayfair infrastructure and drive changes to support our technology strategy enabling engineers across the department to deliver value efficiently.
• Lead technical debate and decision making ensuring no-regret decisions with appreciation for trade-offs 
• Nurture collaborative ways of working that grow the team, its members and the product: testing practices, pairing/mobbing, continuous deployment, domain-driven design
• Influence and contribute to the technical and product strategy and roadmap

What you’ll need:

• Broad experience with JVM technologies with deep knowledge and experience in Java 
• Experience with architectures developed in cloud-based and event-driven environments
• Experience with Monolith, SOA and Microservice architectures that served as business and/or technical platforms.
• Track record in working with best practices such as design patterns and CI/CD 
• Capability to collaborate across the wider organization, influence even without direct authority with an inclusive, adaptable and persuasive communication style 
• An interest in challenging problems and the ability to work with many different teams identifying architectural boundaries and platform interfaces.
• Excellent communication and proven ability to influence decisions
