Wayfair runs the largest in-house-built big parcel network of all e-commerces in the United States, standing at approximately 1.6 million square meters of logistics space across North America and Europe. A network of these massive proportions is inherently a highly variable ecosystem that requires flexible, reliable, and resilient systems to operate efficiently. 

We are looking for a passionate Senior Frontend Software Engineer to join our WDN 4 Walls team, the team responsible for the systems that enable our delivery network warehouse operations. As part of our team, you will be solving complex problems that have a direct and salient impact on our supply chain operations and end-customers.

For this role, we need a senior frontend software engineer that will influence our software architecture and their peers to drive advancement initiatives within their team to improve our systems, practices, and business. You will be working in a results-oriented team that highly values good collaboration and autonomy. The tech stack includes React, Typescript, PHP, a mix of REST and Kafka interfaces, RDBMs, Aerospike, and K8s among others. And will be incorporating other technologies as the platform evolves.

You have

• Effective communication skills
• Goal-oriented, collaborative, pragmatic, and continuous improvement  mindset
• Experienced in implementing highly reusable component systems that can benefit multiple frontend applications.
• Deep knowledge of modern JavaScript (up to ES11) and async programming patterns
• Ability to design frontend architectures for complex applications spanning multiple frontends.
• Significant experience building single page applications, ideally with more than one framework
• Proficiency in building SPAs with the React stack (Redux/React-Router/Reselect)
• Experienced in implementing scalable delivery strategies for modular frontend applications and excellent knowledge of frontend tooling such as Webpack and BabelJS.
• Good knowledge of modern CSS layouting and related CSS-in-JS technologies (such as styled components)
• Strong affinity for testing the code shipped to production on all levels, ideally in a TDD environment (unit/integration/E2E)
• Strategic approach to detecting performance bottlenecks and optimising frontend performance, ability to establish a KPI-driven frontend performance culture.
• Comfortable with making code changes across the stack when necessary
• Abstract thinking skills
• Experience and desire to work in an agile environment
• Interest in being challenged in a fast-paced environment while having fun
• Analytical and creative mindset and passion for solving business problems with technology
• Ability to quickly translate business requirements into working features
• Ability to break down complex features into small usable parts
