Wayfair Analytics is the engine that powers an enterprise obsessed with data, where Data Science plays an ever-increasing role in how we serve our customers. This role will directly enable the growth of Catalog Data Science at Wayfair. The Catalog Data Science team’s objective is to improve both the end customer experience and Wayfair’s internal operations via a Data Science and Analytics driven understanding of our catalog of millions of products, that is more scalable, automated and robust than traditional methods. This could include extracting a product’s attributes from imagery and text to improve our merchandising, graphing the similarity between products to help customers find substitutes, or predicting a new product’s long-term sales potential to ensure investments are informed by returns from future sales. 

The Data Science Analytics team leverages Wayfair’s huge datasets to inform the roadmap of our Data Science / Machine Learning development. We work in close collaboration with a high performing team of engineers, machine learning engineers/data scientists and product managers who are on the leading edge of Data Science. 

In this role, you can expect to lead a team to integrate our Data Science-driven recommendations into new use cases within Wayfair, working closely with business stakeholders and product managers to drive measurable outcomes. You / your team will work closely with product managers, data scientists and engineers to define, implement, and maintain key metrics that inform the health / successes of our product. You / your team will do exploratory data analysis to generate new insights & inform our roadmap. 

What You'll Do

  • Manage, coach and grow a team of high-caliber data analysts into future leaders of the analytics community at Wayfair
  • Influence cross-functional executive leaders across the organization through communicating key insights and recommendations. You will have to persuade stakeholders with differing levels of analytical proficiency.
  • Define the 6-12 month strategic analytics roadmap for the team, in collaboration with our stakeholders.
  • Lead a team that is responsible for executing the Predicted Winners analytics agenda across numerous product teams
  • Set a high bar and level up the team's technical capabilities and business strategic thinking
  • Implement and maintain tracking of key metrics, identifying trends/changes and driving improvement
  • Work closely and build productive relationships with our product, engineering and machine learning stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify areas where advanced analytical efforts can produce a strong value add and work them into the road map.

What You'll Need

  • Experience managing teams and cross-functional stakeholders
  • 5+ years work experience in a relevant field (in addition to any graduate education).
  • Bachelors or Masters in computer science, engineering, statistics, economics, MIS, or other quantitative discipline preferred
  • Strong skills writing SQL queries or other structured computer programming language required. Experience with programming in Python is preferred. 
  • Experience with dashboard software such as Tableau, Looker, DataStudio a plus
  • Experience with big data frameworks such as PySpark a plus
  • Experience with statistical software such as R, SAS, SASS a plus
  • Demonstrated success working with executives at the most senior level on setting analytic direction and recommendations to direct business strategy and achieve high impact results.
  • Excellent communication and data presentation skills covering objectives, plans, status, roadblocks, and results.
  • Prior experience proactively identifying areas where analytical efforts can produce  strong business value and setting the analytics roadmap.
  • Experience designing and implementing highly visible, and innovative analytical organizations
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills and technical abilities along with problem solving skills.
  • Experience with experimental design and/or statistical analysis to drive business decision making
