Job Description

The Partner Operations Analytics Team is one of the engines that powers Wayfair, a company passionate about data-oriented strategy and performance management. Our Analytics & Insights team is focused on solving complex business problems by utilizing advanced analytical techniques to uncover insights and develop recommendations that drive business results. We help steer the business by leveraging the largest data sets for Global Operations and Supply Chain. This team utilizes data as an asset and maximizes its business value to extend our market advantage. We work closely and collaboratively with other global teams to provide solutions to our business while we strengthen our position as an inclusive organization. 

 

This role will help support our team’s effort to transform a network of thousands of individual vendor businesses into a flawless operations network. Our technology partners are building next gen tools that suppliers will use to execute operational high value actions. Determining what the right actions are and if we’ve built the correct tools that address our suppliers’ needs will be a primary responsibility for the right candidate. These improvements should be mutually beneficial to Wayfair and suppliers alike, and enable more efficient fulfillment, communication, reporting, product availability, and increased transparency into our supply chain.

The ideal candidate is an energetic team player who understands how to effectively drive results in a fast-paced and rapidly growing company.  Strong quantitative skills are required to analyze performance and efficacy of solutions, and due to the collaborative cross-functional nature of this position as well as high visibility with senior leadership, effective communication, and presence are also highly valued.  Structured prioritization and creative problem-solving skills are both essential.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Partner with leaders across Executive Leadership, Account Management, Inventory Planning, Product Management, and Business Intelligence to develop and implement strategies across different workstreams (modeling and metric creation/improvement) impacting multiple Global Partner Operations teams. 
  • Create an infrastructure of data and technology that would result in Dynamic reporting and optimal decision making. 
  • Be the subject matter expert for data, analytics, and visualization within the Global Operations or Supply Chain organization to ensure accurate and proper interpretation of core business metrics and consumer behavior
  • Support broad improvement initiatives spanning thousands of suppliers to improve efficiency and visibility across the supply chain for our supplier partners
  • Partner closely with a variety of groups company-wide, including transportation, data integration, warehousing, inventory planning, engineering, and others to understand the current operational gaps and develop solutions to drive a more seamless supply chain.
  • Analyze key performance metrics to root cause performance issues and drive change
  • Help prioritize various improvement opportunities and identified solutions to drive the largest immediate impact
  • Regularly communicate performance trends and improvements to senior management and leadership
  • Collaborate with other Global Operations areas (e.g., Supplier Operations, Warehousing, Returns, Engineering) to create, share and evaluate project ideas while driving their implementation and scale working solutions across our supply chain

 

What You Will Need:

  • Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, Economics, Management, Social Sciences or other quantitative discipline field with strong academic record. 
  • 7+ years of experience in a quantitative, consulting, business intelligence, data science or engineering role performing quantitative analysis required. 
    • Knowledge of advanced analytical techniques such as Machine Learning, Linear Programming and statistical analysis preferred.
    • Hands-on experience and knowledge of SQL (TSQL, Google Big Query and Vertica incl. aggregate functions, joins, etc.). 
    • Other structured programming languages (Python, R).
    • Experience conducting quantitative analyses on large data sets; experience with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc. ).
    • Knowledge of other large Data Visualization Tools such as Tableau/Looker/Data Studio a plus.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Solution-oriented, collaborative & curious mindset
  • Strong written and verbal communication with a team player, highly collaborative attitude 
  • Experience managing and executing large projects from start to finish including project management, data gathering and modeling, problem solving and communicating recommendations
