Perigold is seeking a Senior Merchant to serve as the Head of Curated Merchandising, responsible for shaping our channel assortment strategy as well as how we communicate value to the luxury customer. This leader will drive our channel-specific merchandising approach, which currently includes our on-site event portfolio, print catalog, photoshoot assortments, and online video advertising. This role also oversees our promotional strategy across channels. This is a highly influential role, responsible for driving our channel merchandising agenda as we continue to scale our presence in new channels like online video and physical retail and expand to new geographies.

This leader will build and oversee a small team of merchants responsible for conceptualizing and developing our merchandising strategy - which includes defining and optimizing our channel-specific assortments, developing and monitoring an exposure plan and share of voice guidelines for priority categories and brands, and building and optimizing a roadmap for personalized offers.  They will collaborate closely with several senior-level cross-functional partners (e.g., Marketing, Creative, Category Management, Pricing) to evolve how we showcase our assortment and value proposition to our customers. This leader will develop a deep understanding of our customers, the market, and our business, and pair this with the strategic thinking, creativity, leadership and bias to action that will drive success in this highly entrepreneurial environment.

This role is based in Boston and reports to Perigold’s Head of Brand and Curated Merchandising, with significant cross-functional responsibility and exposure to senior leaders. 

What You’ll Do

  • Build out and lead a small, highly-capable team to manage category exposure plans and performance across site and marketing channels
  • Develop exposure plan and share of voice (SOV) guidelines for key categories and brands; continuously monitoring performance and iterating approach
  • Oversee curation and performance of our on-site event portfolio and assortments supporting marketing initiatives
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Creative, Category Management, and Operations leadership to bring our selection to life, particularly in our highly visual channels such as Catalog and Online Video, across geographies.
  • Own strategy and roadmap for Perigold promotional programs
  • Owns Perigold promotional calendar, including major campaigns/shopping holidays and targeted (personalized) offers & drives end-to-end process in partnership with Profit Management, Category Management, Growth@, NARTA, Marketing, Creative & Storefront for seamless execution
  • Drives communication of value, both everyday (i.e. Free Shipping) and during promotional time periods
  • Partners with marketing on strategy to deliver targeted offers to a narrower subset of customers via targeting by Class/Category, Marketing Visitor Type, Engagement Status, Platform/Channel, or a combination of these segments
    • Example projects include:
      • Determining go-forward strategy for category/class-level promotions
      • Developing playbook for personalized promotions, utilizing in-market signals and customer consideration cycles
      • Partnering with marketing to create a playbook for channel-specific offers (i.e. app exclusive, email only, etc.)
  • Owns promotional testing roadmap, connecting the dots across site & channels to to develop a better understanding of what resonates with the luxury customer, inform best practices, and drive messaging continuity across customer touchpoints for all efforts
  • Defines & drives supplier discount sourcing strategy to support our promotional calendar,  in partnership with Category Management, Profit Management, & NARTA to drive buy-in with the Perigold supplier base
  • Influences evolution of supporting tech & tools to support Perigold nuance related to team efforts
  • Oversees  performance analysis for promotional events, in partnership with Marketing, Profit Management & Business Trends
  • Refines and evolves promotional tactics and execution playbook to align closely with the luxury market
  • Drive efforts to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive team environment
  • Establish a core definition of success (e.g., KPIs) for your teams

What You'll Need

  • 6+ years of experience, preferred 
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a strong academic record
  • Merchandising, Planning or Buying  experience preferred
  • A passion for data -- strong analytical & hands-on experience conducting quantitative analyses on large data sets; extensive experience with Excel required
  • Problem Solver: Savvy,  analytical, creative, and innovative approach to solving problems -- not afraid to think outside the box & push the status quo
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity in a dynamic, high-growth environment
  • Results-Oriented: Proven track record in taking ownership to deliver results within a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional influencer and stakeholder manager, capable of mobilizing internal and external teams toward a common objective and effectively advocate for business priorities 
  • Attitude of a true team player – positive, enthusiastic, helpful
  • Luxury brand experience a plus
