Wayfair believes everyone deserves a home they love and a shopping experience that feels like home.

We’re the Experience Design team at Wayfair, and we’re tackling exciting challenges that are reshaping how people discover, find, purchase and have goods delivered to their homes. We’re a diverse, multidisciplinary team of world-class designers, researchers, and content strategists. Our design practice is collaborative, data-driven, and fast-paced.

We’re helping a massive, rapidly growing global customer base efficiently find the perfect products from our catalog of >22M items, building a 2-sided marketplace to connect consumers with interior designers and contractors, and leveraging A/R and Computer Vision to help customers visualize products in their space. We have a modern tech stack including sophisticated capabilities around AI, data science, multivariate testing and personalization. And we’re a highly collaborative, supportive team that values learning, psychological safety and career development.

What You’ll Do:

Our International Markets team’s purpose is to optimize Wayfair’s suite of brands in existing non-U.S. markets in a way that ensures customers can use our products equally well and provides for customers’ unique needs and expectations.

Our international footprint is currently Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany with additional expansion on the horizon. Our vision includes both nailing our current international presence while also creating scalable and tailored solutions to continue our growth globally in a way that meets geo-specific customer needs.

As a Senior Product Design Lead on our International Markets team, you’ll craft easy-to-use and delightful experiences for Wayfair’s customer-facing web and app experiences for non-U.S. markets. You’ll work with teams across Wayfair to successfully optimize experience by developing a deep and nuanced understanding of customer segments for each market and design the customer-facing experiences.

You are skilled in digital product design, endlessly curious about customers’ passions, needs, and pain points, and love turning quantitative and qualitative findings into insights to drive product strategy.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Identify localized needs of customers in existing non-U.S. markets, starting with Canada, UK, and Germany, by conducting user research and competitive analysis. Investigate cultural differences, study local apps, experiences, digital trends, and identify pain points in our current experiences. Learn how our existing markets differ from the core U.S. business, and become a go-to expert and international customer advocate
  • Design tailored experiences that meet the nuanced needs + expectations of those customer segments, i.e. culturally relevant experience, UI, and compliance features.
  • Leverage market research and data analytics to inform design decisions
  • Collaborate with our design systems team to identify and design enhancements to our design library to serve international customers
  • Make platform recommendations, e.g. what architecture do we need to adapt easily to different countries, scale faster, and be accepted by users
  • Contribute to the international product strategy roadmap
  • Champion best practices and promote the team's strategy to the larger organization, offering guidance, documentation, and socialization to build high-quality localized products as we scale to new countries and markets
  • Collaborate closely with Geos UX Research and Content Strategy, product, engineering, Localization, EU merchandising, design systems, and core funnel product teams
  • Lead design efforts cross-platform for all our brands as they scale to international audiences: Wayfair, AllModern, Birch Lane, Joss & Main, Perigold; Web, iOS, Android

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience designing for EU markets
  • A collaborative work style and the ability to think holistically -- understand how teams work together to execute design concepts that deliver on brand goals, business goals, and are technically feasible
  • Exceptional communication, persuasion, and facilitation skills; You tailor your presentation for the audience
  • Self-direction: You can take a large, ambiguous problem, chart a course, and execute against identified deliverables, mobilizing people and resources
  • Reflexes for developing and optimizing processes
  • Skills in current design tools like Figma, Sketch, Invision, Framer, Abstract, and Creative Suite
  • An online portfolio of case studies highlighting some or all of:
