Wayfair runs the largest in-house big parcel network of all e-commerces in the United States, standing at approximately 1.6 million square metres of logistics space. A network of these massive proportions is inherently a highly variable ecosystem that requires flexible, reliable and resilient systems to operate efficiently.

We are looking for a passionate senior engineering manager to join our WDN 4 Wlls team, the team responsible for the systems that enable our delivery network operations. As part of our team, you will be solving complex problems that have a direct and salient impact on our supply chain operations and end-customers.

For this role, we need a hands-on engineering manager that will lead a team responsible for our 4 Walls Operations Portal. Our current tech stack includes, PHP, Python, React, Typescript.

What You Will Do:

As a Senior Engineering Manager in Wayfair Delivery Network you will serve as a lead for one or multiple high performing engineering teams, designing & building a platform that interfaces with many different systems within and outside Wayfair.

Play a key role in developing and driving a multi-year technology strategy for a Wayfair Delivery Network 4 Walls
Lead teams to architect and implement high quality, scalable, future proof services that will have effective system boundaries and will support long term vision & strategy
Drive changes to support technology strategy for Wayfair Delivery Network, and enable teams to deliver value efficiently.
Coach, mentor and support software engineers in their growth in technical track
Point on collaboration cross-functionally / across multiple teams
Point on dealing with ambiguous scope / pro-actively identify high impact problems
Point on creating generalizable / platform-like solutions for products and processes

What you bring to the table

2+ years experience managing teams, with preference for candidates with a mix of start-up and large-company experience
Hands-on experience driving software transformations within high-growth environments at scale
Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience driving teams forward and ability to influence decisions without authority
Experience with multiple mainstream web technologies (PHP / .NET / Java / Python / JavaScript ) that would allow you make confident strategic decisions on choosing the right tech for the job
Experience with Monolith, SOA and Microservice architectures that served as business and/or technical platforms.
Experience Hybrid Cloud environments (Kubernetes, GCP/AWS)
An interest in complicated problems and working with many different teams identifying architectural boundaries and platform interfaces.
