The Finance Technology teams are building a re-imagined enterprise scale platform that will be key for the continued growth of Wayfair’s multi-billion dollar business. Our platforms support the Wayfair B2C/B2B website, our global logistics and warehouse network, and a multitude of new and exciting streams of revenue. Wayfair’s business lines generate a phenomenal amount of financial transactions and data points from our vast customer base. Every transaction and every dollar must pass through our team’s platform to be validated, analyzed, and reported. Our goal is to provide our external customers and internal team members with the best, and fastest, financial services possible through: 1) visibility into accurate financial information; 2) standardization of financial processes throughout Wayfair; 3) technological process improvements; and 4) holistic decision making, grounded in mutually beneficial revenue generating and cost saving opportunities. Our platform is a key piece in the continued growth of Wayfair by ensuring new business lines can seamlessly generate and collect revenue with no additional onboarding or engineering cost to support those streams.

What You'll Do:

  • As a Software Engineer II, you’ll be responsible for contributing to technical roadmaps, and executing on the resulting designs, and implementations within a team of high performing engineers that will shape the future of e-commerce
  • Advocate for technical investments in your domain and drive initiatives to completion while balancing various technical trade-offs including speed to delivery vs ongoing maintainability and others
  • Understand relative priority of tasks and deliver solutions with limited supervision and is able to autonomously overcome roadblocks.
  • Provide high-quality code reviews, proposes ideas for technical improvements and scalable architectural designs
  • Mentor new hires and other engineers to help them become more proficient by example, tech talks, paired programming, and other avenues to increase technical efficiency across the organization

What You'll Need:

  • 5+ years of experience as a full-stack, full lifecycle software engineer and deep understanding of a modern programming language (Python, Java & JavaScript experience preferred)
  • Passion for leading a large, cross-cutting technical initiative to delivery, cross-functional consensus building, and influencing design decisions
  • Ample experience gathering requirements from business stakeholders and deriving software requirements
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading code reviews
  • Experience with working on systems at scale and relational database schema design
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders alike
  • Proficient in effective troubleshooting and issue resolution techniques
