Job Description

The B2B Sales Engineering group is building a re-imagined enterprise-scale platform that will be key for the continued growth of Wayfair’s multi-billion dollar professional business. Our platforms support the Wayfair Professional website by helping the sales team increase productivity while managing efficiency. The engineering teams build our 2,000+ agents highly performant tools to manage customer relationships, uncover opportunities, and guide our customers through the best possible personalized experience. Our platform is a critical piece in the continued growth of Wayfair by ensuring that Wayfair B2B is the preferred destination for all things Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment for every business, giving professionals the support, tools, and power to create spaces to achieve their visions quickly.

What You'll Do

  • As a Software Engineer II, you’ll be responsible for contributing to technical roadmaps and executing the resulting designs, and implementations within a team of high performing engineers that will shape the future of e-commerce 
  • Advocate for technological investments in your domain and drive initiatives to completion while balancing various technical trade-offs including speed to delivery vs ongoing maintainability and others 
  • Understand relative priority of tasks and deliver solutions with limited supervision and is able to autonomously overcome roadblocks. 
  • Provide high-quality code reviews, proposes ideas for technical improvements and scalable architectural designs 
  • Mentor new hires and other engineers to help them become more proficient by example, tech talks, paired programming, and other avenues to increase technical efficiency across the organization

What You'll Need

  • 5+ years experience as a full lifecycle software engineer and a deep understanding of a high-level programming language (such as Python, Java, JavaScript, React, PHP 8+, or others)
  • Passion for leading a large, cross-cutting technical initiative to delivery, cross-functional consensus building, and influencing design decisions 
  • Experience gathering requirements from business stakeholders and deriving software requirements 
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading code reviews 
  • Experience with working on systems at scale and relational database schema design 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders alike
  • Proficient in effective troubleshooting and issue resolution techniques
