Who We Are:

Storefront Engineering is in the enviable position of being able to speak directly to our customers. Through powerful technology, we make shopping our millions of products feel simple and personal, whether customers are just browsing while on-the-go on our native app or finalizing purchase decisions on the desktop from the comfort of their home.

As Wayfair continues to see massive growth, Storefront Engineering is going through a major technology transition, empowering teams to build services and interfaces that can be updated and deployed independently. We are on the journey to build the tools and services to deliver value to our customers more quickly, all in an environment where engineering teams have the autonomy to make the right decision for themselves and their product.

The Storefront Platforms team builds and supports platforms which collectively refer to the foundational services, technologies, frameworks, libraries, tools and design assets that support application development.

We support organizations outside of Storefront that have a direct impact on the customer experience, as well as user-focused platforms, including the UI platform for all of our web applications. Our team is composed of the following nine groups: Performance Engineering, Login & Authentication, Dynamic Page Architecture, Promotional Tooling, Frontend Platforms, Backend Platforms, Homebase, Content Strategy and UX Research.

Mission: Scale our infrastructure, systems, and assets to drive efficiencies as a world-class tech company.

The Homebase Engineering team owns, maintains, and iterates on the primary design system and React component libraries used across all of Wayfair engineering. Homebase is primarily a collection of reusable components, styles, and patterns that can be assembled to build any number of experiences and applications across Wayfair. Homebase engineering works closely with design and product on evolving the platform, components, and governance cycles that have a huge impact on our consumer and supplier users.

  • Manage a team (potentially multiple teams) of 5+ front-end engineers across one or more of the current Homebase squads (Library, Enablement, and Accessibility).
  • Help facilitate the creation and success of a brand-new Homebase squad (Accessibility) and tackle the creation of tooling and solutions to pave the pathway to a high standard of accessibility compliance across Wayfair UIs.
  • Guide team strategy, roadmap definition, negotiation and prioritization, resource allocation, and team building.
  • Work directly with designers, engineers, and product owners to expand on component functionalities, customizability, themes, documentation, education, support, onboarding to ensure reusability, performance, and ease-of-use across many teams and use cases.
  • Contribute to the identification and gathering of metrics to measure the utilization, performance, and usage compliance of the Homebase library across numerous applications.
  • Form relationships and collaborate with numerous engineering, product, and design organizations to identify opportunity areas and help deliver on cross-functional goals.

What You’ll Need:

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience successfully managing one or more engineering teams.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with developing UIs with React.
  • A passion for UI, UX, and design systems.
