Scientist – Sustaining Spatial Product Development
About the role:
We are seeking an outstanding Senior Research Associate or Scientist I to join the New Product Development group to assist in sustaining efforts of our Visium spatial products. New Product Development is a rapidly growing team that acts as the interface between R&D and Production. The team is involved in all stages of product development from concept to post-launch activities. All candidates must have experience with product development, proven-ability to troubleshoot complex issues, and deep understanding of molecular biology. An ideal candidate will have experience with microscopy or spatial assays, experience working with vendors and/or service providers, experience in reagent manufacturing, experience with NGS, and have great communication skills.
What you will be doing:
- Assist in testing new materials, tools, and workflows to improve 10x’s state-of-the-art Visium Gene Expression products.
- Work with key internal and external partners to troubleshoot any issues that may arise in 10x’s Visium product line.
- Execute experiments to assess the impact of protocol, reagent, or process changes on 10x’s Visium Gene Expression Assays.
- Perform statistical analyses on key assay and QC metrics.
- Update manufacturing documents and present results.
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, analytical chemistry, or related fields.
- Recent PhD graduate, 3+ years (MS) or 5+ years (BS) of relevant experience in reagent or assay development and optimization, preferably in the Biotechnology industry
- Experience with next generation sequencing library preparation and workflows
- Ability to execute experiments to measure the impact of process improvements and/or formulation changes.
- Experience with a broad variety of molecular biology and analytical techniques including qPCR, nucleic acid isolation, use of plate readers, Bioanalyzers, gel imagers, real-time PCR instruments, etc.
- Experience troubleshooting complex issues in manufacturing or R&D.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.
Desired skills & background:
- Customer support experience.
- Technology transfer or product sustaining experience
- Previous work with FFPE tissues.
- Previous work with spatial assays.
- Experience with microscopy and imaging systems.
