About the role:
As a Senior Scientist in the chemistry group, you will have a passion for working at the bench and making a positive impact on human health. You will have extensive experience in the synthesis and characterization of both complex novel small molecules as well as oligomers. You will also be able to assay those compounds using molecular biology or biochemistry techniques. You will also have the aptitude to operate and maintain all modern instrumentation necessary. In addition, you will have the ability to communicate with both managers and junior level scientist in a clear and concise manner. You will have the drive and fortitude to work in a quickly changing environment.
What you will be doing:
- Execute on plan from manager and report findings in clear and concise manner
- Synthesize complex organic molecules and oligonucleotides
- Perform molecular biology and biochemical assays of novel compounds
- Perform purification and analysis of novel compounds
- Operate and maintain lab equipment
To be successful, you will need
- PhD in organic chemistry, physical chemistry, or a related field with at least 4 years of industry experience or Masters with 10 years of industry experience or BSc with 15 years of industry experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience with the organic synthesis of small molecules including dyes and chemically modified nucleotides
- Extensive hands-on experience with the solid phase synthesis of oligonucleotides
- Deep experience with modern purification and analysis techniques of small molecules and oligomers
- Ability to operate and maintain modern chemistry laboratory equipment including HPLC, LCMS, NMR, etc.
- Experience with modern molecular biology and biochemistry protocols, preferably utilizing next-gen sequencing
- Ability to be work in a collaborative team environment and passion for working at the bench
- Be flexible, agile and have the ability to adapt to a quickly evolving environment
Below is the base pay range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.
