Fintech is one of the fastest growing areas in Agoda and we are rapidilly expanding our tech team. We work closely with the finance business team and our Fintech product owners to reduce risk, drive efficiencies and move on new market opportunities in this exciting field. We have a wide range of projects from traditional finance or cutting-edge customer fintech. For example, reconciliation using Big Data technologies, growing and optimising customer payments options, tax calculations in milli-second response times and a mesh of supplier payment options like vertical credit cards. It's a hot field and the perfect mix of data engineering and backend engineering.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer. The goal is to ensure reliability of Fintech systems, such as uptimes for payout systems and accuracy and consistency of hundreds of millions of financial transactions that the systems process daily. You will take part of incident response teams, work closely with several scrum teams and finance users to use various technologies to investigate and solve production issues, then work with system owner team to design and develop long-term solutions to prevent future incident and reduce the needs for manual support work.
In This Role, You’ll Get to
- Take part of fintech production support team to investigate and solve problems with finance and payout systems which are very critical parts of Agoda systems, processing hundreds of millions of transactions daily.
- Work closely with product owners, end users and engineering teams to design and implement long term solutions to increase reliability of Fintech systems.
- Analyze support operations, provide automated solution or self-service tools to reduce manual efforts.
- Monitor production systems, design and use tools to capture the right signals, create dashboards and alerts to make sure we can detect future problems quickly
- Work with DBA and data quality team to ensure good performance and validity of financial data.
- Take part in various stages of Fintech development processes to ensure that the new systems are built with world-class reliability and maintainability.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- At least 2 years experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, Software Engineer or related positions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to quickly analyze issues and come up with short term and long-term solutions.
- Experience developing in one of more programming languages, such as JavaScript/React, Scala, Kotlin, Java or C#.
- Experience in data platforms like SQL or Hadoop.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Experience in observability and monitoring tools like Grafana or Prometheus.
- Service-mind and a passion for solving system issues and improving system reliability.
It’s Great If You Have
- Experience working and/or supporting modern FinTech or Payment systems.
- Experience in automation and reducing manual operations.
- Experience with continuous integration tool like Jenkins or Gitlab.
- Knowledge in container technologies like Docker/K8S
- Domain knowledge in any of these areas: financial reconciliation, financial reporting, tax, payout methods like vertical credit cards or customer payments.
- Hands-on experience working with technologies like Spark for data processing, ETLs for data pipelines and queueing systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Experience in building and running transactional/financial systems
