Airbnb was born in 2007 when two Hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 4 million Hosts who have welcomed more than 1 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, Hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.

The Community You Will Join:

Airbnb launched its Chinese mainland business in 2016 and has grown since with a long-term focus on China's outbound travel. We believe that supporting nearly one-fifth of the world’s population as they explore the world is an important way to contribute to our global network and fulfill our commitment to connecting people from communities and neighborhoods around the world.

Since the resumption of China cross-border travel in January 2023, we have been seeing a continued and steady recovery of China outbound travel. We are encouraged to expect that China outbound travel will surpass 2019 levels by the end of 2024, and continues to be a cornerstone of Airbnb’s international growth, especially across the Asia Pacific markets.

Our China Outbound team is excited about and committed to capture China's outbound opportunity, by focusing on three key strategic pillars: 1) product innovation, 2) brand enhancement, and 3) global network and supply readiness. We are pumped to provide the hundreds of millions of Chinese Millennials and Gen Zers the most local, authentic travel experiences that only Airbnb can offer.
