Where we need help?
We’re looking for an experienced Manager of Finance to help establish, develop and lead an Accounting and Finance function for our China business segment.  Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Controller, with a line to the China MD. You will build the processes and develop the accounting and finance team that enables local leadership with robust, complete, accurate and timely financial reporting, analysis and recommendations.   You will also ensure Alllbirds’ compliance with all regional regulatory, tax and other financial matters, and be a bridge connecting into the San Francisco Corporate Accounting and Finance team, systems, and processes. As the region develops, you will become a trusted business partner for other internal and external stakeholders, and help bring Allbirds’ vision and strategy to life in China.  We’re looking for a highly curious candidate with a solid understanding of accounting and tax principles who will drive synergies, efficiencies, and insights through process, while navigating our dynamic, fast paced and changing landscape with a high degree of autonomy and executive maturity.   You will build a strong infrastructure and internal control framework to support rapid growth and scale.  You’re self-driven and can motivate others, instilling a culture of sound financial management. You love a dynamic start-up environment.  Your friends and co-workers describe you as someone who gets it done, and is good natured, analytical, detail-oriented, and insatiably curious.

What does the job entail?

  • Leads Region’s daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual bookkeeping; cash reconciliation and management; financial statement and other audits; purchasing and accounts payable; financial and managerial reporting and analysis; tax filing, reporting, calculations, and compliance; accounting processes & systems evolution; control and compliance activities; and other related work flow.

  • Assists with all matters related to sales, returns and inventory accounting.   Works closely with the operations and Corporate Inventory accounting teams on cost accounting and inventory health tracking.  Ensures that inventories are valued properly.

  • Understands current and proposed legislation and helps the organization prepare and operate accordingly. Helps to ensure compliance with applicable local, regional, and country level regulatory requirements.  Enforces accounting regulations, recommends new procedures.  Assists in de-risking the organization.

  • Maintains accounting/internal controls to sustain financial security; assists in further defining department and company-wide accounting policies and procedures.

  •  Leads or assists with regionally impacting systems & reporting design, integration, migration, enhancement, etc.

  • Assists with system implementations

  • Assists with developing internal controls and maintaining control compliance

  • Protects an organization's value by keeping information confidential.

  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of internal and external financial communications.

  • Builds strong partnerships across the organization, as a trusted advisor and team member.

  • Partners with Corporate Accounting and Finance and other appropriate teams to drive financial and non-financial systems and reporting changes, as applicable, related to the region.

  • Oversee the Region’s Non Trade Corporate Purchasing: negotiate terms and develop supporting analysis for material contracts as applicable, identify and execute against corporate purchasing savings opportunities, help ensure stakeholder compliance to the purchasing policy. Ensure cross functional alignment and smooth processes between Business Partners, Corp FP&A, and Corp Accounting teams.

  • Has an active awareness of and ensures accurate books and records persist- possess a solid understanding of accounting.

  • Detail-oriented, organized and ability to multi-task and shift priorities quickly while maintaining control of deliverables.

  • Team player, with a positive attitude, who rates high on the curiosity scale.

 

Other skills needed:

  • Bachelors degree required, preferably in a business discipline like accounting or finance. 

  • CIPCPA/CPA certification required.

  • 5+ years in progressive Corporate Accounting & FP&A roles.  Public audit experience is a plus.

  • SAP FI/CO/BI/BPC/MM/IM/Retail experience required.

  • Deep Excel skills including data analysis & modeling capabilities.

  • Tech savvy.  Loves Technology.
