Atlassian is continuing to hire with all interviewing and on-boarding done virtually due to COVID-19. All new and existing Atlassians will continue to work from home until it’s safe to return to our offices. We're looking for a an Engineering Manager to lead a team of developers in the Design System team. You'll be part of a growing team, crafting our next generation of infrastructure and delivering value to our customers through creative improvements to our product. The Design System team is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of Design system components, and services across Atlassian products like Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket. Our vision is that all Atlassian products have reliable, familiar and distinctly Atlassian user experiences that are built on best-in-class experience foundations and workflows.

You'll work closely with our design and product management teams to influence the direction of the Atlassian Cloud Platform and plan the steps to get there. You'll be responsible for building effective teams, empowering them to achieve their goals, and putting those goals into broader context. Your greatest responsibility will be looking after the individuals reporting to you, coaching and supporting them in their professional development, unlocking their potential, and challenging them to step outside their comfort zone to grow and excel.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

  • Frontend development experience and experience leading frontend development teams
  • Significant experience with building large scale web software
  • Experience leading a development team in (at least) a technical capacity
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies
  • Ability to drive technical excellence, pushing innovation and quality
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • A track record of great execution and delivering results
  • Experience in the following is preferred:

  • Experience working on a UI Component library
  • Employee performance & growth management
  • Experience with large scale distributed systems
  • Experience with microservices
  • Continuous delivery
