Atlassian is continuing to hire for all open roles with all interviewing and on-boarding done virtually due to COVID-19. Everyone new to the team, along with our current staff, will temporarily work from home until it is safe to return to our offices.

We are searching for a Product Designer to join our Design System team in Mountain View, California.

Atlassian is one of the fastest-growing software companies in the world, with millions of users across our products (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Trello, and now - Jira Align). We're making a significant investment in experience design, and currently fast-growing our global design organization.

If you live and breathe design systems, love solving problems and grow with variety, this is a wonderful opportunity. Our world-class Design System, which includes the Atlassian Design Guidelines and Atlaskit, is the cornerstone of Atlassian's success. In tandem, they are the design language that is the backbone of the work done by everyone in the company. They allow our product teams to move fast and allow our users to move work forward using familiar components across every product touchpoint.

As a Product Designer for Atlassian’s Design System, you'll work in an amazing cross-functional team of Designers, Engineers, and Content Designers to innovate the way Atlassian builds and design products. You'll work on components, patterns, and guidelines that help designers, developers and writers from all over Atlassian to build harmonious product experiences that end-users love. Specifically, you will be working on responsive, dark mode and accessibility.

In This Role, You'll get to:

  • Be a core member of the team that is responsible for the Atlassian Design System - continuing to build on existing foundations as well as design new patterns that products need.
  • Work with other designers, coordinating across teams and time zones to collaborate on projects.
  • Be an advocator and educator for the design system.
  • Continue learning and growing in this exciting space.
  • On Your First Day, We'll Expect You To Have:

  • Preferably, 4+ years of professional product design experience.
  • A strong passion for working with (and simplifying) complex design systems that span multiple products.
  • Solid track record of shipping accessible experiences that users love.
  • You enjoy collaborating closely with developers, designers, and writers.
  • Ideally, you've got some technical chops: you know what "React" means and understand your way around code, even if it’s at a basic level.
