Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We’re searching for a Manufacturing Technician to assist with the production of Aurora's family of LiDAR and other Hardware products.

In this role, you will

  • Assemble, test, and characterize sensor products, computing packages and power distribution systems. 
  • Test complex mechanical and optical systems to support the development of Aurora’s lidar engine products
  • Aid in the development of Aurora’s production/manufacturing infrastructure
  • Contribute to a team of engineers, scientists, and technicians on new technology development from conception to production of reliable products
  • Aid in troubleshooting of non-conforming materials, test stations and subassemblies
  • Assemble, test and troubleshoot cables and harnesses 
  • Solder and wire splice PCBAs and wire harnesses
  • Inspect product quality of incoming and assembled components
  • Splicing of fiber optic components
  • Assemble and test optical components
  • Follow written, verbal and visual instructions
  • Compile test data and complete component test reports
  • Assemble electrical, mechanical and optical systems

 Required Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Attention to detail and careful handling of precision components and equipment
  • Ability to understand electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Experience with Google Sheets, Docs, Slides and Gmail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to learn on the job

 Desirable Qualifications 

  • An Associate Degree, Technician Certificate, or equivalent in photonics/lasers/electro-optics
  • A theoretical understanding of electronics with respect to complex electro-optic systems
  • Experience building complex photonics-based systems and working as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Experience handling, cleaning and polishing fibers and/or fusion splicing fiber optics
  • Experience debugging complex electronic assemblies and/or manufacturing cable assemblies
  • Experience with CNC mills, lathes and other machine shop tools
  • Experience with automotive manufacturing and quality specifications

The base hourly pay for this position is $27.00 - $35.25 per hour.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
