Blue Bottle is looking for a talented individual responsible who will play a critical role in driving growth in our DTC e-commerce business. You’ll help craft the strategy for our DTC business, work with the engineering team to build a best-in-class e-commerce site experience, rigorously analyze performance data, manage financial KPIs and continuously work to optimize our shipping and fulfillment processes.

This is a critical role on the Digital team with broad responsibility. We’re looking for an aspiring professional who’s highly analytical—you’re are comfortable playing a product manager role, and can build compelling business cases with your findings; you have both an eye for design and an appreciation for strong branding; you’re driven by performance, progress, and achievement against big goals; you care deeply about the customer journey and experience; and you’re uniquely motivated by getting Blue Bottle’s freshly roasted, responsibly sourced, peak-deliciousness coffee (and mugs and drippers!) into more and more homes.

This is a salaried position based in our Tokyo office, reporting to the GM of Japan, dotted line to the Global Digital team.

You will:

  • As a person in charge for the e-comm business overall, manage the sales and KPIs of Bluebottlecoffee.jp, Rakuten, and Amazon web stores  in Japan, including budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring
  • Lead and manage the E-comm Team, Includes people management of two team members.
  • Own the roadmap to deliver a best-in-class e-commerce site experience. Work with the Global teams to execute hypothesis-driven experimentation, and define and execute on a revenue-driving roadmap
  • Build dashboards and conduct ad-hoc analysis to monitor performance (including subscription churn, merchandise sales, LTV) to measure the efficacy of marketing, merchandising, and product enhancements
  • Prepare monthly presentations highlighting sales, marketing, and financial results; through your ongoing analysis, increase our understanding of what our core customers want and do on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
  • Serve as the merchant for the E-comm business, oversee site merchandising to both drive sales and enhance the Blue Bottle brand story. Coordinate with our Brand team to execute evergreen and seasonal marketing programs
  • Partner with our demand planning and supply chain team to improve processes and optimize COGS; own the relationship with our 3PL, continuously looking for ways to optimize our fulfillment and shipping operations
  • Continuously research the e-commerce landscape and online competitors, identifying category trends and growth opportunities
  • You are:

  • You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Business level English both conversational and writing
  • 5-8 years of related experience; product management preferred in a fast-growing technology company/retail, experience in retail/e-commerce, or similar fields preferred
  • Experience in defining and delivering a digital experience to consumers; experience in e-commerce is a plus
  • Strong business acumen, critical thinking, and project management skills
  • Extensive experience with Excel, PowerPoint & other data analytical tools (Tableau, Sigma, etc.). Basic HTML knowledge is a plus
  • Experience with tools such as Ecomm platforms, Google Analytics, Rakuten RMS, Amazon Seller Central, Segment, Sigma, Amplitude, etc.
  • An innate ability and desire to create strong relationships, influence others, and collaborate at all levels of the organization
  • A profound love of coffee—while not required, it will make your role significantly more delicious!
