We are looking for a hands-on and detail-oriented Manager, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting to join our team. This individual will primarily oversee a globally-based team for the preparation and documentation of equity workstreams including the recording of stock-based compensation expense. Additionally, they will assist in the research and documentation of accounting policy and complex accounting issues. This candidate will have significant responsibility with equity accounting and stock-based compensation in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“US GAAP”). The ideal candidate will have been exposed to complex accounting areas, specifically stock based compensation, and financial reporting.

This position will be a hands-on role and the individual will be responsible for supporting monthly deadlines, quarterly reviews, and the annual audit, as well as, researching, interpreting, and implementing new accounting standards. Additionally, this individual will innovate and drive efficiencies through continual evaluation of our systems and business processes. You will report to the Senior Manager, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting, and have exposure to our Equity Team and Senior Finance Leadership team. In this role, you will be expected to be a key contributor as we continue to expand our SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting function. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Manage the preparation, calculation, and recording of stock-based compensation expense for equity awards including but not limited to restricted stock units, stock options, employee stock purchase plans, or other awards
  • Monitor the issuance, exercise, forfeiture, and cancellations of awards across the Company
  • Manage the preparation of key technical areas of external financial reports, including reports filed with the SEC on Form 10-Q / 10-K, ensuring preparations are in accordance with US GAAP. Key technical areas may include but are not limited to changes in stockholder's equity, equity related footnote disclosures, earnings per share, and the statement of cash flows
  • Coordinate with the team for month-end procedures such as reconciliations and analytics
  • Assist in the research and documentation of complex and non-routine technical accounting matters such as equity modifications. This will include reading and interpreting accounting guidance and writing memos on technical accounting topics to support conclusions reached
  • Assist with the documentation and maintenance of corporate accounting policies
  • Assist in enhancing and documenting procedures, policies, and controls
  • Assess the financial statement and disclosure impact of complex transactions
  • Monitor current developments in accounting literature to identify any changes in accounting policies, as needed
  • Communicate and work collaboratively with other globally located teams such as the Equity team, Corporate Accounting team, and Payroll team
  • Other special projects and technical areas, as needed

WHO YOU ARE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required plus CPA certification
  • 4+ years in public accounting
  • Proficiency with advanced Excel skills required, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables
  • Exposure to working with globally managed teams
  • Experience researching accounting issues and drafting technical memorandums is a plus
  • Critical thinker and detailed oriented that thoroughly evaluates potential accounting implications associated with a particular issue
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements and experience researching technical accounting topics
  • Highly organized and results-oriented and works well in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to meet tight timelines and manage multiple priorities
  • Highly self-motivated, detailed oriented, flexible team player that is able to operate independently
  • Exceptional verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills

For candidates based in the United States, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $122,700 and $136,300/year with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $136,300 and $151,400/year (including bonus or commission). Your exact offer may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to cash compensation, Braze offers full- and part- time employees a comprehensive Total Rewards package that includes equity grants of restricted stock (RSUs) so that all Braze employees own a piece of our company.
