Role Overview
CarGurus is seeking a motivated, analytical Compensation Analyst who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment and enjoys solving challenges with creativity and precision.
In this visible, cross-functional role, you’ll work closely with the People & Talent team, business leaders, and Finance to deliver compensation programs that are equitable, fair, competitive, and aligned with our strategy. You’ll be involved across the full compensation lifecycle, including planning, benchmarking, equity administration, and project execution. Your work will help ensure our programs scale effectively as we grow.

What you’ll do
- Partner & Advise: Translate data into clear compensation recommendations for People Strategy Partners, Talent Acquisition, and business leaders.
- Strategic Alignment: Align compensation strategies with evolving business goals and market trends.
- Core Activities: Lead job pricing and support varied compensation projects.
- Annual Processes: Drive annual processes including merit reviews, bonus planning, and equity grant cycles.
- Incentive Programs: Assist in the designing and launching of short- and long-term incentive programs.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to pay regulations (e.g. FLSA, Pay Transparency) and monitor legislative and market trends.
- Surveys & Benchmarking: Lead annual survey submissions (e.g., Radford, Aon), maintain live-market data, and conduct pricing analyses.
- Job Architecture: Maintain and support job architecture, leveling, and compensation framework.
- Data & Tools: Build dynamic Excel or Google Sheets models; develop scalable tools to streamline workflows and generate actionable insights.
- System Integrity: Maintain data accuracy across Workday, Fidelity and other systems. Utilize system data to respond to internal questions.
- Pay Equity & Transparency: Contribute to pay equity analyses and help maintain transparent, competitive pay ranges.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience: 3 or more years of experience in compensation or related roles, preferably in a corporate or public company setting.
- Analytical Rigor: High attention to detail, data accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Technical Skills: Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and automation. Experience with Workday, Radford, and Fidelity is a plus.
- Communication: Clear, concise verbal and written skills; ability to distill complex analyses.
- Self-Management: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in a matrixed environment.
- Equity Compensation: Experience with equity compensation is a strong advantage.
- Collaboration: A collaborative and consultative working style and positive attitude.
