A Product Owner (PO) is an Agile team member responsible for maximizing the value delivered by the team and ensuring that the team backlog is aligned with customer and stakeholder needs. The PO is the primary customer advocate to the team, the liaison between business and technology, and is responsible for balancing and communicating the product’s goals and customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Interpret the product vision and negotiate balance between stakeholder needs and product goals.
- Ensure stories are clearly written and managed in the team backlog.
- Facilitate team ceremonies (e.g. Daily stand-up, PI planning, backlog grooming, sprint planning, demos, retrospectives).
- Act as a liaison between teams and stakeholders ensuring dependencies are effectively managed.
- Deployment and release information is updated and communicated in a timely manner.
- Ensure the product aligns with customer needs by reviewing the team’s work each sprint and communicating adjustments.
- Regularly partner with the technical lead to ensure alignment and team readiness on technical solutions.
- Prioritize enhancements from the technical roadmap to stay current and relevant on existing technologies.
- Collaborate with the team to understand and prioritize issues in response to customer concerns.
- Proactive communication with stakeholders and the team.
Qualifications
- Expert communication and collaboration skills.
- Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and plan work using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Strong conceptual understanding of technology with a successful history of managing all stages of the product development life cycle.
- Self-starter capable of working independently.
- Comfortable negotiating and prioritizing work from multiple stakeholders.
- Proven decision-making, problem solving, and analytical skills.
- 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in a B2B SaaS environment.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Product Owner and/or Agile certifications are preferred.
- Scrum Master/Agile coaching skills and experience is a bonus and a nice to have!
