About the role:

As a Site Reliability Engineer II on the Platform team, you will uncover issues and technical challenges across the engineering teams and platforms, and develop creative solutions to resolve them. You will strive towards the right balance between enforcing standardization and accommodating uniqueness. The person in this role will have a chance to demonstrate a degree of autonomy with their work and help with complex support requests and have an impact across engineering.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate, drive, and execute architectural discussions with cross-functional teams 
  • Influence cross team projects and SREs technical roadmap to enable engineering and help Checkr customers
  • Design, build, ship, and maintain the core software libraries, tools, and patterns used by all of Checkr’s engineering teams
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues across the stack, with respect to performance, availability, and data quality
  • Provide consultation and feedback across teams to ensure we are building highly reliable systems
  • Present detailed technical information and benefits of the Checkr platform to a wide array of customers, including operations, developers, technical architects, and executives

What You Bring:

  • Degree in Computer Science (or related field)
  • 3+ years experience as a software engineer (Ruby, Python, or GoLang)
  • 3+ years experience in maintaining and observing production customer facing environments in AWS or Azure
  • 3+ Experience as  incident commander or response team member of an outages in production
  • Experience with containers and container orchestration
  • Understanding of the basic concepts of infrastructure behind a micro-service architecture, REST APIs, and asynchronous queueing models
  • Strong collaboration, documentation, communication, and project management skills
  • Experience driving platform adoption with various product engineering teams, guided by a self-service and product-first approach
  • A passion for customer-centricity and building relationships with other teams

At Checkr, we believe a hybrid work environment strengthens collaboration, drives innovation, and encourages connection. Our hub locations are Denver, CO, San Francisco, CA, and Santiago, Chile. We use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop ranges for our roles and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range. If this role is remote, we have listed the top to the bottom of the possible range, but we will specify the target range for an exact location when you are selected for a recruiting discussion. The base salary range for this role is $114,000 to $134,000 in Denver, CO.
