Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Lead Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Team based in Boston, MA. The ideal candidate is more than just your average manual tester. You will use an analytical approach to test all of Chewy’s Account & Autoship related areas. You are passionate about quality and you have the ability to create, maintain and execute test plans in order to verify requirements. You have experience with white box, black box integration and API testing, which will require a good depth and breadth of technical knowledge.  The Account & Autoship team is responsible for the customer’s account management section and all of the customer’s autoship interactions on Chewy.com. Autoship is a service that Chewy offers to customers so that they can receive items that they purchase often, on an automatic shipment schedule.

What You'll Do:

  • While working within an Agile environment, you will work with Developers, Technical Project Managers and Designers to identify proper and effective testing strategies, beginning in the planning phases of a feature
  • Analyze a user stories and identify ambiguities, gaps and risks that have not yet been considered
  • You are able to identify important information about our product and have the ability to effectively articulate this to our stakeholders
  • Monitor existing defects and bring them to closure
  • Play a major role in championing the importance in quality improvement across all areas of the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Analyze test results and understand the root cause of defects
  • Have a deeper understanding of advanced test types including API, database, integration and end-to-end

What You'll Need:

  • 6+ years’ experience in Quality Engineering and testing using a variety of techniques and methodologies
  • SQL proficiency for database enhancements and data validation
  • In depth debugging skills for finding root cause of defects as a preventative method for defects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge in Test Case Management
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and be able to juggle work based on changing priorities
  • Experience working with API and backend testing activities including data and large volumes of data moving between different backend technologies
  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Position may require travel 

Bonus:

  • Test Automation scripting
  • Experience with Selenium or a similar automation tool.
  • Experience with Atlassian suite of tools (JIRA, Confluence, Slack, TestRail)
  • Experience with Bamboo, Jenkins or similar CI/Build tools
  • Some experience using programming languages such as Java or Python
  • Experience in eCommerce or retail
