Our Opportunity:

Chewy.com is hiring a Manager, HR Services in Dania Beach, FL. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading the implementation of HR programs and in project management. This candidate will have a critical role in managing vendor relationships and experience in supporting the early employment experience of New Hires especially from offer to the first day of employment.

In this role you will own and drive our goals and all continuous improvement efforts in the drug screen and background check programs. We are looking for you to be the subject matter expert and take these programs to the next level in terms of adoption, on-going training, analytics, metrics and reporting, and building a best in class process.

What You'll Do:

  • Oversee the drug screen and background check program
  • Manage the vendor relationship with the background and drug testing vendors
  • Manage 2-3 direct reports
  • Escalation point for pre-adverse actions for both background check and drug screening programs
  • Provide governance and expertise to all Chewy locations in drug testing
  • Measure, track, and analyze the drug testing and background test programs for effectiveness
  • Drive process improvements and change based on data and feedback
  • Provide training on proper drug testing and background check processes across the HR organization
  • Ensure compliance with multi-state and federal employment compliance and labor law
  • Accountable for all aspects of assigned background screening adjudications and drug testing screening for all business units. Evaluates applicant background checks designated as Further Review. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Performing an individualized assessment in compliance with legal guidance to evaluate the candidate’s suitability for hire or promotion
    • Conducting research into candidate qualifications/eligibility by contacting applicant and outside entities such as educational institutions, courts, and other third parties for information
    • Partnering and advising clients of outcomes based on results of background screening and determining pass/fail decisions
    • Works directly with vendor and vendor system to accurately track status of background check adjudication, log final resolutions, and ensure service level agreements/vendor performance metrics are being met
    • Acts as a liaison between the legal department, HR, Talent Acquisition, site leaders and the background check vendor as needed to resolve issues, make case determinations and implement process improvement
    • Accountable for accurate data entry of all background checks in HR Case Management System and accurate reporting of results

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-7 years’ experience working in an HR Support capacity with preferred emphasis in vendor management, drug and background testing experience and Program Management
  • Project management, project planning, and schedule management skills
  • Proven track record at delivering timely and accurate information in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong business acumen and communication skills
  • Experience managing vendor relationships
  • Preferred – Experience managing the background check & drug screen process
  • Preferred – Working within a Lean/Continuous Improvement framework
  • Preferred – Experience managing company performance in the adherence of OFCCP requirements
  • Position may require travel.
