Our Opportunity:
The Payroll Operations Senior Analyst is responsible for driving and supporting end-to-end payroll processes across multiple pay groups, jurisdictions, or entities. This role ensures timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing, while also leading payroll audits, process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and complex issue resolution. What You'll Do:
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of weekly, biweekly, and/or monthly payrolls using UKG, Workday, ADP. Implement and oversee complex payroll transactions and business processes.
- Review and validate payroll data including new hires, terminations, bonus/commission payments, deductions, garnishments, and tax adjustments.
- Maintain and drive innovations to support daily payroll operations and improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Act as a subject matter expert for complex payroll issues including tax, system errors, or regulatory compliance.
- Support and collaborate with HR, Accounting, Legal, and third-party vendors on cross-functional initiatives.
- Monitor changes in federal, state, and provincial payroll regulations and assess their impact on systems and processes.
- Ensure compliance with tax, wage & hour, and reporting requirements across all jurisdictions.
- Assist in audits (SOX, IRS) by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Serve as a mentor and peer leader for other payroll team members; provide training and support as needed.
- Lead payroll process improvement initiatives, including documentation, validation, and internal training.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of progressive experience in payroll operations for a mid-to-large size company.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state and Canadian payroll processing.
- Experience with payroll systems including Workday Payroll, UKG Timekeeping, and ADP SmartCompliance
- Understanding of payroll accounting principles and general ledger impact.
- Excellent Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Analytical approach and high attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
- Comfortable managing confidential information with discretion.
- Experience in a high-growth company or fast-paced environment.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) strongly preferred
