JOB SUMMARY
The Gauge Calibration Technician ensures the precision and reliability of measurement instruments used in aerospace repair, overhaul and testing. This role is critical to maintaining compliance with stringent aerospace standards and ensuring the safety and performance of the components. This position will maintain, calibrate, setup and service gauges, such as mics, calipers, torque testers, bore gauges, set masters, rings and pins.

Through our extensive in-house training program, the successful applicant will be instructed via a series of computer based and hands-on training, the necessary skills of the position.

This position performs its duties in a modern climate-controlled facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Through our extensive in-house training program, (OJT) the successful applicant will be instructed via a series of computer based and hands-on training, the necessary skills of the position.
1.  Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure full compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
2.  Review router and operational sketches to identify the work to be performed.
3.  Calibrate gauges, measuring instruments, tooling instruments, and equipment following specifications of in-house calibration system.
4.  Retrieve gauges and measuring instruments daily from the production floor for calibration.
5.  Manage workload to achieve required calibration schedules and satisfy inspection schedules.
6.  Send gauges, measuring instruments, and other items to vendors for calibration and repair as needed.
7.  Disassemble and reassemble gauges, perform minor repairs, paint and label gauges. Assign serial numbers to gauges. 
8.  Use computer calibration software for generating weekly calibration schedules. 
9.  Maintain computer system and hard documentation records, stickers, and certification files to track, record, and control calibration systems. 
10. Perform clerical work associated with activities including certificates of calibration.
11. Order new gauges and replacement parts, as required.
12. Maintain control and traceability of gauges and measuring instruments inside the operations and outside vendors.
13. Maintain calibration lab to required standards.
14. Assist engineering with determining the recommended gauge(s) for a specific application. 
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.      Careful attention to detail.
2.      Technical aptitude.
3.      The ability to learn to read and interpret shop drawings and diagrams.
4.      Capable in the use of measuring gauges, such as micrometers and calipers and the understanding of shop math, such as algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
 
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
1.      High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.
2.      Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
3.      Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
4.      Must be able to use hand tools and have good hand eye coordination.
5.      Ability to work independently and perform the job with minimum supervision.
6.      ASQ Certified Technician (CCT) or ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CGT) preferred, or able to obtain said certification in a timely manner.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT
1.  Work in varying positions from time to time. Stand and/or sit for portions of the shift.  Move parts (>50 pounds) using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods. Move less heavy parts (<50 pounds) with or without hoists, slings, or carts. 
2.      This position has pre-employment testing requirements that may require fitness for duty testing and a vision exam.
3.      Use of safety and personal protective equipment is mandatory under some conditions.  The following may or may not be required.
a.      Ear plugs.
b.      Safety glasses.
c.       Uniform.
