The Deputy Finance Director assists the Finance Director in overseeing the major donor fundraising program and is responsible for spearheading the Coalitions fundraising program. This individual will assist the Finance Director in the day to day management of the finance staff. This will include creating a positive work environment within the DC office along with ensuring that the staff has the tools needed to be successful.  

Additionally, this individual will be responsible for creating and implementing a coalition-specific finance plan and supporting the execution of principal and surrogate travel and fundraising events for this program. This includes a focus on mobilizing and engaging affinity groups including but not limited to AAPI, Latino, African American, Jewish, Muslim, Italian, young professional, clean tech leaders, artists, business leaders, and climate leaders. 

The applicant must be detail-oriented, possess strong communication, management, organizational, and successful fundraising skills, and have political campaign finance experience.

In this position you will (Responsibilities/Duties):

  • Assist in implementing the major donor fundraising program and be responsible for creating and implementing the Coalitions fundraising program.
  • Oversee and assist in the execution of events with principals and surrogates.
  • Provide support for the execution of travel including working to ensure a smooth schedule for principals and surrogates along with creating and editing briefing memos and supporting materials for the trip.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of related work experience.
  • Management experience required. Ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience managing a team of 5-7 individuals. 
  • Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills.
  • Strong major donor fundraising skills.
  • Strong and engaging interpersonal skills.
  • Possess strong communication skills across multiple platforms.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Google Suite and NGP.
  • Political campaign experience and event planning experience is required.
  • Some travel required.

  • Travel: The Deputy Finance Director position will require travel, which could be up to 1-15% of the time.

    The starting salary for the Deputy Finance Director position is $150,000 on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends.
