The Finance Events Deputy Director supports the Finance Events Team in executing and managing flagship annual finance team events (including conferences, galas, and retreats), regional fundraisers, and other Democratic principal engagements. 

This position is based in Washington, DC. The Finance Events Deputy Director is responsible for coordinating and maintaining professional working relationships with external vendors. The Finance Events Deputy Director is also responsible for executing event walkthroughs, negotiating vendor contracts, tracking event budgets and expenses, overseeing invoice submissions, and other duties as assigned. The Finance Deputy Director works closely with the Events Director to manage event processes and timelines.

Applicants must be detail oriented, possess strong communication and organizational skills, and have 2-5 years of related political finance event experience. 

In this position you will (Responsibilities/Duties):

  • Manage and oversee event planning and execution for major donor fundraising events produced by the finance team, with a focus on surrogate events and virtual events.
  • Oversee the research, identification, and facilitation of the vetting and onboarding process for external vendors and venues.
  • Manage logistics and execute all virtual events produced by the finance team (Zooms and webinars).
  • Serve as vendor and volunteer lead for in-person events. 
  • Coordinate with principal staff, advance, and security to identify speaker-specific event requirements. 
  • Assist in managing staff and volunteer requirements at in-person events. 
  • Support the Events Director as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission.
  • What we will look for (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, event planning, organizing major events, or travel logistics required.
  • Experience in political and finance advance and events is preferred. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience negotiating with external partners.
  • Detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Travel is required. 
  • Flexibility to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.

  • The Finance Events Deputy Director position will require travel, which could be up to 50% of the time.

     The starting salary for the Finance Events Deputy Director position is $80,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

    This is a full-time, exempt position that may require work on weekends, and has an end date of November 15, 2024.  This position is in the bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local-500.
