We are looking for a highly skilled people manager that is capable of optimizing team performance by investing in and coaching individual team members and fostering an environment where engineers can thrive.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Infrastructure Fleet Engineering this role will manage and grow Infrastructure’s Performance, Kernel and OS teams.  Together these teams are responsible for developing highly available, secure and performant systems foundations that enable millions of developers throughout the world to build, deploy and scale the next generation of applications.

Our Team:  The Infrastructure Fleet Engineering group is a diverse team made up of nearly sixty, mostly senior, engineers located across the US, Canada, and Europe with the mission of creating simple, yet powerful, foundations (with đź’•) from which our community can build.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Talent development and performance management; coaching, and developing a culture of inclusivity and collaboration 
  • Partner with senior technical and business leadership to co-develop multi-year roadmaps for the technology areas across the organization 
  • Proactively identify and solve challenges that negatively impact team velocity and successful delivery
  • Develop annual team operating budget and maintain contracts that support your areas of responsibility 
  • Strategic planning, quarterly business reviews and building relevant metrics for key insights

  • Visionary - experience communicating effectively with peers and leaders, create allies and productive relationships, nurture collaboration and knowledge transfer, communicate with transparency, and communicate clear organizational goals
  • Technologist - a proven background in some or all of: platform development, OS and server life cycle management, storage and virtualization technologies
  • At least 10 years minimum, of job related progressive experience in cloud computing, virtualized platform development, storage platform development, Operating System development, or hardware design
  • Experience working with upstream communities like Kernel, QEMU, ebpf, etc
  • 5+ years minimum, of job related experience of people, talent and performance management; passion to mentor, motivate, and coach team members
