As a member of the Tax team, you will report directly to the International Tax Director.  Our Tax team is a high performing tight knit department that manages both financial reporting and compliance as it relates to all matters of tax across multiple countries, it also has a seat at the table in driving optimal tax structures and planning and audit defense. 

What You’ll Do:

As an International Tax Manager, you’ll be actively engaged in all aspects of international tax provision, planning, research, and compliance to support our operations. You will play a key role in preparing the company’s global tax positions related to GILTI, BEAT, FDII, FTC etc. and assist with the preparation of the international tax provisions, including tax audit support.

The US International Tax Manager will team with the International Tax Director to continue delivering on DigitalOcean’s global tax strategy and legal structure efficiency efforts. You will work directly with team members from treasury, legal, finance, accounting, and other tax groups. Specifically, the US International Tax Manager will have the opportunity to work across the direct tax spectrum including compliance, planning, transfer pricing, audit defense and reporting under ASC 740.  International audit defense, along with the potential for Advanced Pricing Agreements, will be integral to the role.

What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:

Required qualifications:

  • Prepare the US International tax aspects of quarterly and annual US GAAP Income Tax Provision, including Subpart F, GILTI, BEAT, FDII, FTC, and FIN 48
  • Collaborate with the US income tax compliance team to prepare and review all required US International tax forms for foreign entities, including but not limited to Forms 5471, 8858, 1118, 8990, 8991, 8992, and 8993
  • Support the US international tax aspects of Federal and State tax audits
  • Assist with special projects as assigned by leadership, including but not limited to forecasting, mergers & acquisitions, internal reorganizations, tax modeling, and process improvements
  • Research and analyze impact of enacted and potential law changes and prepare memos to support tax positions
  • Ensure timely delivery of completed projects and keep appropriate documentation, which is essential to the operations of the tax groups at DigitalOcean

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Law
  • At least 4-7 years of experience in US international tax, with core understanding of income tax provision and accounting requirements under US GAAP (ASC 740 and related guidance)
  • Big 4 Accounting or Law Firm experience is a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking, promote innovation and continuous learning
  • Strong Excel skills, experience with online team communication tools (Slack/Teams), intellectual curiosity, and outcome accountability
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate, communicate, and manage complexity in simultaneous projects
  • Knowledge of tax accounting software and technology is helpful

  • We reward our employees. The salary range for this position is $94,424 - $118,030 based on market data, relevant years of experience, and skills. You may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance.
