Crunchyroll COVID-19 Hiring Status

About the Role

Crunchyroll is looking for a Director, Marketing Operations, a senior, high-visibility role on the global marketing team reporting directly to the VP, Strategy & Creative. This essential role is responsible for driving efficiencies and economies of scale throughout global marketing operations & creative production to support our rapid international expansion. It oversees key groups that facilitate workflows and delivery of assets, including creative production, post-production, and project management.

This newly created role will require a proactive, self-sufficient, and entrepreneurial mindset with strong leadership skills and collaboration at its core. Centered in between our global Creative Services and our regional marketing teams the Director of Marketing Operations partners not only with our global centers of marketing excellence but also with our cross-functional partners in Product and Content Operations.

About You:

  • 10+ years managing production, post-production, and project management functions globally; preferably at a media, tech, or e-commerce company or agency
  • Expertise in localization in all regions of the world
  • You bring an established production network all over the world and have experience with off-shore production.
  • 3-5 years project management experience both leading projects but also managing junior level project managers; fluency with best practices
  • SVOD experience a plus
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all leadership levels
  • MBA a plus
  • Self-starter, who is flexible and adaptable in changing environments.
  • Willing to travel

A day in the life of our Director, Marketing Operations:

Overall

  • Lead a practice that empowers extraordinary creativity and meets our rapidly growing demands for more and better globally relevant content, produced quicker and more efficiently.
  • Develop, optimize and implement global workflows, processes, and tools that allow all marketing teams to focus on their strengths, operate efficiently and be results-driven.
  • Proactively find opportunities to tap into or incorporate the latest trends in tech, marketing operations and tooling, creativity, production approaches & techniques, and broader inspirations, innovations and interruption
  • Champion and contribute to a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, personal growth, winning, and fun.

Post Production

  • Build offshore localization and finishing hubs consisting of production designers, editors, motion graphics designers, as well as asset and translation managers to efficiently translate, localize and version global assets at scale according to creative and regional needs.
  • Develop a global translation approach that is scalable, demonstrates efficiencies with other translation work streams across the organization and appropriately represents our Anime fandom across all markets and languages.
  • Partner with Paid Media team to standardize specs and media results
  • Establish and refine global quality control standards and deliver according to those standards.
  • Standardize secure asset trafficking practice from and to external production partners, creative agencies, publishers, and internal partners (regional and cross-functionally).
  • Run clearances with broadcasters, ensure regional legal requirements are met and assets are “safe” for individual media flights.

Project/Campaign Management

Establish and own an internal Project management team, which ensures an effective, streamlined, and timely global marketing practice. The scope of this function includes:

  • project management of strategic key initiatives and global campaigns (non IP or Brand) spearheaded by the Marketing Strategy, Planning and Analysis as well as the Senior Marketing Leadership teams.
  • campaign management support of our Brand and Title Marketing Managers by ensuring regional asset needs and requirements are gathered, completed, and delivered on time.
  • development and maintenance of a well-rounded global marketing calendar.

Creative Production

  • Oversee the Creative Production function in partnership with the Head of Creative Services and the Director of Creative Production who manages a team of producers responsible for:
  • Life Shoot production
  • Digital Production
  • AV Production
  • Print Production
  • QC
  • Ensure efficient creative resourcing and resource allocations that are trackable and transparent.
  • Create efficiencies in the process and optimize budget spent.
