Crunchyroll COVID-19 Hiring Status
Crunchyroll employees are currently working from home, and we are still conducting remote interviews and hiring during this time. This role is expected to start remotely, and we’ll work closely with you as we understand every person has unique circumstances.

About The Team
The intersection of media and technology is our sweet spot and we are fortunate to be headquartered at the epicenter of the creative economy - Los Angeles. This office houses many of our corporate functions and cross-functional teams tasked with creating exceptional experiences for our passionate communities.
The Android TV team is responsible for building and maintaining our Crunchyroll apps for Android TV and Fire TV. Our goal is to produce a robust application that delivers content that will delight and engage our audiences, partners, and internal stakeholders! We embody Crunchyroll’s collaborative spirit and partner with various internal teams to engineer scalable solutions that can be shared across all client platforms.
About You:
- 5+ years of development experience on Android with Java/Kotlin
- Solid understanding of and ability to provide guidance on architectural design principles on app features
- Stay ahead of techniques, tools, and ecosystem, especially as it relates to Android
- Ability to design and create major software components and provide technical leadership for developers
- Familiarity and working experience with Agile development methodologies
- Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies
- Excellent communication and creative problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with common CI/CD practices and GIT workflows
- Dedication to producing quality code and documentation
Pluses:
- Experience developing sophisticated, consumer-facing video streaming applications for Android mobile, Android TV, and Fire TV
- Experience building excellent video streaming experiences optimized for performance and scalability
- Experience building applications using Jetpack libraries
- Experience with audio/video streaming with Exoplayer
- Familiarity with content protection and rights management concepts
A day in the life of our Senior Software Engineer, Android TV:
- Work with engineers, product managers, and project managers to implement new features across Crunchyroll's Android TV and Fire TV apps
- Coordinate with team manager on technical designs and technology decisions
- Coordinate with multiple teams and manage dependencies where applicable
- Ensure that team tasks are completed in a timely manner
- Ensure good code quality by doing detailed code reviews and maintaining good code coverage on tests
- Work with team manager to develop a comprehensive testing pyramid
- Mentor engineers in order to level up their skills
