The Vice President Total Rewards is responsible for all employee benefit and retirement savings strategies, as well as plan administration and team leadership, supporting approximately 8,000 employees and growing. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment with significant growth due to acquisition.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Align Total Rewards strategies to company strategic plan, manage 3rd party partners, and lead the Total Rewards team in support of executing strategies.
  • Align all health and welfare benefits, leaves management, 401(k) and ancillary programs to the needs of our business and our workforce. Ensure plan designs are effective and efficient in the use of our investments in our people.
  • Ensure overall understanding and perception of value of our benefits programs through close collaboration with people leaders, effective workforce communications, and strong service delivery to our team members.
  • Provide a very positive enrollment experience to new hires, new acquisitions and to all through our annual enrollment process.
  • Ensure a strong service delivery environment to support the needs of our employees. This includes how we manage employee requests and questions, partner with 3rd party administrators on their models for serving our people, and leading by example with a service attitude and strong collaboration.
  • Ensure an appropriate controls environment across all Total Rewards programs with appropriate controls and audit mechanisms to ensure full compliance to all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Guide efforts to evaluate and audit program performance, analyze trend data and anticipate future trends to best support our growing business.
  • Serve as the organization’s 401(k) plan Administrator.
  • Oversee company’s risk insurance claims & workers compensation program strategies and administration.
  • Ensure benefit plan compliance and regulatory filings (plan documents, 5500 filing, legally required notices, etc).
  • Manage due diligence for benefit & risk insurance transitions through new company acquisitions.
  • Assess risk factors and solutions to manage company’s financial performance & regulatory requirements of programs including fully-insured & self-insured under any Multi-Employer Welfare Arrangements.
  • Help to build and maintain an effective compensation structure, supporting policies and educational tools.
  • Provide appropriate compensation strategies and processes meeting rapidly changing business needs.
  • Provide current and relevant competitive pay data to HR leadership to guide decisions.
  • Manage annual merit process in alignment with company strategy.
  • Establish and maintain effective controls related to establishing pay for new hires, market pricing of new roles, off-cycle pay increases, and other types of labor spend drivers.
  • Establish process for monitoring and reporting off-cycle increases by pay type (promotions, market, etc.).
  • Oversee variable compensation strategies and models and collaborate with business leaders on designs of field incentive plans.  
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of services performed.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Payroll, Procurement, and other internal stakeholders as needed to ensure compliance with local laws, regulations and contractual obligations.
  • Build and maintain a strong and diverse Total Rewards team that is capable and equipped to deliver outstanding service to our people.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success leading both health and welfare programs and 401(k) plan administration
  • Bachelor Degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in a combination of benefits and compensation, with demonstrated ability to exercise appropriate judgment and handle highly sensitive information
  • Solid business acumen with an excellent grasp on financial drivers of overall business and benefit plans
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong collaborative relationships within the company and with external vendor partners
  • Organized; detail oriented; versatile
  • Excellent executive presentation skills, able to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely and able to respectfully question and/or challenge others to think through problems, improvement opportunities, and viable solutions
  • Demonstrated leadership/management skills
  • Willingness to travel (10%)
