JOB OVERVIEW
The DOT Compliance Manager focuses on maintaining driver standards: eligibility and safety requirements, vehicle programs (personal vs company), ensuring vehicles and drivers of FBN operate safely and within compliance of DOT, Federal, State/Provincial, and Local regulations (US and Canada); and as the SME is accountable for guiding best practices and plans for new regulations and policies. A successful candidate will have experience managing the administration & tactical operations of company-owned, leased, and rented vehicle assets as well as compliance of the authorized employees who operate them. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated commitment to driver and motorist safety.
This position operates in a fast-paced environment and must be able to effectively prioritize & execute the work and drive compliance while also identifying & executing continuous improvement opportunities. This is an FBN employee-facing and supplier-facing role where project management, and timely and accurate communications with all parties is a must.
Responsibilities:
- Cross-functional partner to all areas of the business operating as the Subject Matter Expert for DOT Compliance (US and Canada)
- Serve as FBN’s Designated Employee Representative (DER) for incident management, drug & alcohol screening administration
- Partner with existing Fleet Management firms and Fleet Coordinator to ensure robust tracking of leased assets
- Collaborate with Human Resources during the pre-employment process to ensure employee drivers and contracted drivers are properly credentialed and qualified.
- Manage driver qualification evaluations, including drug and alcohol screening, DOT qualifications, MVRs/Driver’s Abstracts, in partnership with Human Resources
- Manage all facets of DOT Compliance: including all regulatory compliance files - Driver Qualification files, regulatory screenings, PM compliance, roadside violations reporting and resolution process, accident reporting/tracking, permits and licensing, and Hours of Service and ELD, FMCSA Audits.
- Manage the IFTA, IRP, UCR and 2290 reporting processes for relevant heavy duty vehicles and trailers
- Ensure that all drivers understand and procure the licenses and permits they need to legally carry loads to customer destinations, and track compliance
- Ensure ongoing driver eligibility based on insurance standards; including MVR/Driver’s Abstract reviews
- Partner with EHS and HR with review, approval and delivery of Fleet safety training programs and processes
- Facilitate registering & licensing of relevant vehicles
- Monitor and facilitate compliance to vehicle maintenance schedules
- Maintain vehicle insurance program accuracy and compliance in collaboration with Legal
- Govern the use of telematics
- Provide industry expertise and best practices to relevant business stakeholders
- Support accident reports
- Other duties as assigned
- Serve as the primary point of contact for any DOT Audit inquiries
Qualifications:
- 3+ years’ experience in Fleet Management and Transportation required
- Strong knowledge of fleet management principles, practices, and techniques
- Strong DOT and FMCSA regulations knowledge; preferably with DOT Compliance Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or related field of study preferred

The following represents FBN's reasonable estimate of the US national average base salary range for this role based on market data and placement of internal employees: $110,000-$135,000. This salary range may vary based on geography and the higher cost of labor in some metropolitan areas.
