Flexport.org is the dedicated impact team within Flexport. We help nonprofits, NGOs and mission-driven organizations deliver aid on-time to communities in need. As climate change and the pandemic increase the need for humanitarian and development aid, our supply chain technology and expertise are more important than ever before. Our products and services empower aid organizations to get the right goods to the right place as efficiently as possible, gain visibility and control over their programs and relief efforts, and collaborate with all of their partners and stakeholders during emergencies and long-term projects.

As Flexport.org’s Operation Associate, you will manage Flexport.org aid clients and help scale our social impact and global reach. You will ensure that aid gets to the right place, efficiently, every time.

You Will:

  • Manage the full shipment lifecycle for humanitarian aid and development cargo, including shipments across all modes, imports and exports, global regions, and a wide range of mission-driven organizations
  • Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the highest level of service possible, including supply chain operations, trade lane management, customs, partners, carriers, shippers and consignees
  • Shepherd nonprofits and other social impact organizations through the complexities of international trade; consult with Flexport.org clients and partners (like international aid agencies) to optimize supply chain processes and provide strong, consistent account management
  • Respond to and resolve client escalations, including issues that require advanced industry knowledge and expertise
  • Support sales opportunities, new trials, and grow share efforts by driving new services and product adoption with clients and strengthening our relationships
  • Leverage deep knowledge of the client’s supply chain to develop materials for regular business reviews and build relationships at all levels of the client’s organization.
  • Create and maintain client and team SOPs, helping us streamline and improve our processes
  • Keep a close pulse on client financial health, reporting on the client’s financials and ensuring the client maintains consistent payment schedules
  • Help expand Flexport’s operations to Africa and the Middle East by planning, executing and documenting cargo movements to and from these regions
  • Help run our product donations program, including coordinating donations and implementing new initiatives and strategies
  • Manage Shipment Visibility offerings for nonprofits, including tracking shipments, creating reports, establishing metrics, and ensuring strong data quality
  • Support the development of our Disaster Relief program, Flexport.org Fund, and other new initiatives

You Should Have:

  • 2-4 years of experience in operations, project management, sales/account management, or a client facing role
  • A background in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain, humanitarian aid, international development, or social impact (preferred)
  • Impact-driven: obsessed with improving global aid and maximizing the impact of both Flexport.org and our clients’ programs
  • Leadership abilities to work and collaborate effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Hands-on, process-oriented, structured thinking with strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong business acumen and a focus on growing your customers through a consultative approach
  • Deeply curious: always working to understand the client’s needs and the larger problems in the humanitarian and development space, striving to become an expert on aid logistics
  • Next-level attention to detail: enjoy combing through metrics and operational details to identify opportunities to improve internally or better manage the client relationship
  • A desire to join a new and fast-growing business unit - like in every startup environment, grit and a hands-on mentality are important for success, as well as flexibility and an open-mind to wearing multiple hats
  • A "compliance first" attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry
  •
