Are you eager to kickstart your career with Flexport's People Team? We're currently on the lookout for an entry-level People Operations Associate to join us! This role is perfect for individuals seeking to gain experience and provide support across a range of human resources functions.

Flexport is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on coordinator or generalist to support all day-to-day HR operations for North America. Reporting to the People Operations Manager, North America, you will act as the face of HR and be responsible for supporting Flexport’s new hire onboarding processes, demonstrating thoughtful communication and detailed record-keeping. You will be actively involved with all parts of the business on a daily basis, working cross functionally with other teams and handling highly confidential information. Finally, and most importantly, you seek to continually improve processes and performance to be more scalable and efficient, and to better serve the Flexport team globally.

You will:

  • Act as an initial point of contact and provide excellent customer service for a wide range of questions covering topics like benefits, visas, onboarding, offboarding, contingent workforce, payroll and employee movement. 
  • Organize and manage logistics for new hire orientation (Flexport Academy), background checks, and work authorization.
  • Coordinate offboarding in conjunction with People Business Partners and coordinate with stakeholder groups (Payroll, IT, etc.)
  • Process a variety of employment-related changes within our HRIS system (Workday), including employee status changes, employee information and other confidential employee data.
  • Uphold company compliance with federal and provincial new-employee forms and regulations.
  • Support HR programs such as open-enrollment and yearly performance reviews.
  • Own the hygiene of people's data in workday, by regularly auditing the data, preparing reports, and proposing business process improvements.
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned.

You should have:  

  • At least 1 year experience as an HR/People Ops coordinator or Generalist, preferably in a startup or rapid growth company
  • Familiarity with HRIS/ATS systems is preferred (Workday is a plus!)
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a high volume of concurrent tasks and responsibilities
  • Attentive listener, demonstrating clear, patient, and empathetic communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience building cross-functional relationships across an organization 
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and/or G-Suite applications
  • Mindset for continuous improvement with our HR processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
  • A "compliance first" attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry.
