The opportunity: 

Flexport is looking for a savvy and detail-oriented People Operations Associate to join our People team based in Chicago. You’ll play a critical role in delivering exceptional employee experiences across the full employee lifecycle. You’ll help drive operational excellence by managing core HR processes, supporting key HR systems (like Workday), and contributing to scalable solutions that empower our teams.

You will:

  • Partner with the People Operations team to execute key employee lifecycle events (onboarding, offboarding, job changes, leaves of absence, etc.) in Workday.
  • Own and manage incoming employee and manager inquiries through our HR ticketing system (Jira experience is a plus), ensuring timely, accurate, and thoughtful support.
  • Assist with HR documentation and compliance including verification of employment letters, I-9 processing, and data audits.
  • Support internal processes related to immigration matters such as visa letters, document collection, and coordination with external immigration counsel.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Payroll, IT, Legal, and other internal partners to drive seamless employee experiences.
  • Help identify and implement process improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of People Ops practices.
  • Maintain a high standard of data integrity across systems and processes.
  • Support People team projects and process rollouts across the company. 

You should have:  

  • 1–3 years of experience in People/HR Operations or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with Workday required; Jira or other ticketing systems a strong plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, you can manage high volumes of work without dropping the ball.
  • A customer-first mindset with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Experience supporting immigration processes (H-1B, OPT, etc.) a plus. 
  • Team-oriented attitude, adaptability, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves to get things done.
The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the posting's respective region. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range displayed, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and / or training. 
The US base salary range for this position (exclusive of bonus, equity and benefits):
$52,800$66,000 USD
