The Director, Growth & Commercial Leadership will serve as a critical leader in driving Flexport’s revenue growth, commercial capability, and cross-functional execution across the European organization. This role combines responsibility for business development, sales excellence, commercial manager development, SDR team management, implementation coordination, and commercial analytics. The Director will oversee the full growth engine across the sales funnel, ensuring the organization executes with consistency, scalability, and excellence as Flexport expands its market presence across Europe. The Key responsibilities can be found below:

Business Development & Market Expansion (25%)

  • Lead business development initiatives across Europe, identifying new market opportunities, evaluating product-market fit, and driving go-to-market (GTM) strategy for all our non FCL and Air products
  • Partner with Product Owners, General Managers, and Commercial Managers to prioritize regional expansion and new business opportunities.
  • Implement standardized GTM frameworks, market validation models, and cross-regional coordination mechanisms
  • Own business development governance, reporting, and performance tracking to ensure full visibility across all growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve blockers, optimize resource allocation, and ensure alignment on market-entry decisions.

Sales Excellence & Commercial Capability Building (25%)

  • Build and lead sales excellence programs focused on consultative, value-based selling methodologies across all commercial teams.
  • Drive full adoption of Flexport’s Sales Playbook and embed consistent selling motions across countries and verticals.
  • Establish and monitor comprehensive sales performance management systems, tracking KPIs across all regions and teams.
  • Identify capability gaps within the sales organization and lead targeted development initiatives to address performance variances.
  • Ensure sales processes align with overall GTM strategies and scale efficiently across growing regions.

Commercial Manager Development & Leadership Coaching (15%)

  • Serve as the primary coach and developer for Commercial Managers, supporting their leadership growth and commercial effectiveness.
  • Design structured development programs, leadership frameworks, and coaching cadences for Commercial Managers to ensure scalable team management.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and guidance to support leadership excellence, people development, and commercial performance accountability.

SDR Team Management & Pipeline Generation (15%)

  • Coordinate and manage the SDR function, overseeing pipeline generation, lead qualification, and top-of-funnel performance.
  • Develop SDR coaching frameworks, call scripts, outreach cadences, and performance benchmarks to drive consistent lead quality.
  • Ensure strong integration between SDR efforts and downstream sales execution, optimizing handoffs and pipeline conversion rates.
  • Continuously analyze SDR data to refine lead targeting, prospecting strategies, and overall contribution to pipeline health.

Implementation Coordination & Post-Sale Handoff (10%)

  • Act as the strategic liaison between Sales, Commercial Managers, and Implementation teams to ensure seamless customer onboarding.
  • Develop scalable processes to ensure commercial teams set accurate customer expectations aligned with operational delivery capabilities.
  • Partner with Implementation leadership to refine handoff processes, resolve cross-functional friction, and continuously improve the customer onboarding experience.
  • Identify recurring challenges in onboarding and customer success, leading cross-functional solutions to improve first-time delivery quality.
You should bring:
  • The energy and drive to further Flexport’s footprint throughout EMEA
  • 5+ years of experience in sales and account management
  • Deep comprehension of and proven ability to sell the Flexport value proposition, capabilities and vision
  • Thorough understanding of the logistics industry
  • Intimate knowledge of the challenges and opportunities specific to the segment and territory you are operating in
  • Best-in-class sales best practices to guide your team with
  • The ability to identify talent and development paths with a diverse group of people
  • Excellent coaching and training skills to unlock your team’s full potential
  • Strong analytical skills, be able to deduct conclusions and actions from data
  • An eye for structural challenges and opportunities for your team
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and detail-oriented, with great follow-through on projects/tasks big and small
  • Ability to deliver on a broad portfolio of responsibilities on your own, and ‘figure stuff out’ quickly and effectively
  • Courage to challenge the status quo when logic and reason require it. See something broken? Fix it
  • Team player: approach problem solving with a collaborative mindset and are always finding ways to make your business partners more effective
  • Excellent technical skills Business Intelligence (Looker, Power BI), CRM (SFDC, Hubspot), Parabola
